clear coat on rims peeling

hey guys,

any of you ever have your clear coat peel on your jeep rims??

washed my car yesterday and the front drivers rim is peeling bad!!!!

talked to the dealer this morning and showed the service manager but im afraid hes going to say too bad.

any of you guys have this problem and what did you do to resolve this?

the srt is a year old

Not that it helps, but mine are peeling as well - but I'm outside of the warranty.. Gonna powder coat them black and pain the inserts red to match the truck.. Cheapest 'out'...

That new - I hope the dealer fixes it up for you.

After this winter I am noticing it started on my rims all of a sudden. I am not sure whether I'll have them done all polished or all powder coated, but it won't have the polished face and silver pockets any more.

Dealer/service manager have nothing to do with deciding to cover it or not. It's warranty work. The dealer will send the situation to Chrysler regional to get approval to warranty it. I suspect they will. If they don't then take pics (take pics anyway) and write (snail mail) Chrysler directly with the problem. You could try calling them first. Again, I expect they will cover it under warranty.

The problem will be the fix... Ideally they will replace the wheels. Push for that. The other possibility is that they have them repainted. The problem with that is pretty much nobody can do a job/baking like the factory where it won't peel again in a year or two. If they decide to try and fix it locally maybe you could talk them into doing the powder coat for you.

My 06 Magnum SRT rims are peeling on the back side only; hate how it looks. I'm thinking about Plastic Dip the back of my wheels.

I have a beginning peel on one of my rims, the day I get fed up with it I will powdercoat all four rims, probably flat black and it will look badass...

thanks guys...yup warrenty covered it and had a new rim in 2 days....funny part is....

when they took the tire off the old rim and went to put it on the new rim...they popped my tire and had to buy me a new one hahah so i got a new rim and a new tire...not bad eh
