Got my first CEL today. I have had the 180* stat installed for a few weeks now. Odd part is that it was 81 degrees outside and the engine temp was 188 when the light come on. Kinda weird. I thought as long as you got to 180 in 5 minutes you were good. Guess not. Wonder if the Predator folks can change that setting for us.
Yes sir. Thats what I got. Funny thing is that it was 40 degrees the other morning and no problem. I have been watching the temps and they seem to be good. The hang around 179-181 on the hwy and 186-188 around town. Highest I have seen is 198 and that was stuck in traffic.
hahahaha I want worried. It was fun to scare wife with though. I told her it was about to blow. Anybody asked Diablo Sport about this?
I think that's you're problem right there...I believe if your temps fall below 181after reaching this temp and stay there for any length of time you might get the CEL. I used to get the CEL all the time with my old 180tstat...my temps would rarely reach 180 though and stayed under 180 consistently unless I autosticked the car all the time and kept the rev's up. I believe that tstat was BAD and partially stuck open so I replaced it with a new JET 180 and have never had a CEL ever since.
haha I have a 170 stat and my temps stay at 172 in the winter and 183 ish during summer months. Wierd thing is some get the code and some do not.
Yeah I was curious about hanging at 179 all the time. I think my Motorad opens below 180. I might have just got a bad one or a good one depending on how you look at it. I will probably live with it.
