Thought I´d treat myself to a ride in the Maggie but that wouldn´t happen! Turned the key and she fired up, went to like 1100 rpm and instantly dies. Had a similar experience this weekend but it wouldn´t fire at all, starter just kept turning over but no ignition. Locked and unlocked the car and she started up and ran just fine. This time she fires up but dies at once. I have locked and unlocked the car, pulled the negative for a good half hour and checked the fuses, that would be for the fuelpump. After a few starting attepts it smells of fuel from the exhaust so she seems to get fuel. Now I don´t know where to look?!? Fredrik:crying:
When I sit in it and lock it yes, but not otherwise, it lights up when I turn the key to the ON position but goes out. Fredrik
Do you have a boost-a-pump in the car? If so, check the fuse for it. The MSD ones are prone to blowing fuses or just failing.
The pumpbooster is NOT to blame, its me that SUCK at wrenching! It was a poor connection that actually caught fire, so I´m pretty happy that the whole car didn´t catch fire... Connector replaced and properly so, she now runs strong again! Thanks a lot for the very quick answers and input!:ilovesrtc: Fredrik:grin:
I actually don´t, I´ve told Ulrica to grab the kids and leg if it catches fire and let the insurance take care of it. But now it works fine, the Vortech kit has an upgraded version of the boosterpump, and this was down to ME making a bad connection. Fredrik (Who is now thinking about getting that fireextinguisher)
You can catch something like a small electrical fire or something smoldering. If you've got a full blown fire it's best to let them burn to totaled (never the same after a real fire). Judgement call. Over here the insurance does totaled on the stock depreciated value (blower probably not covered for example) so it is good to put out small fires before they turn into big fires. Lol, I used to drive a semi. It wasn't all that uncommon for owner-operators driving old equipment to have their fire extinguishers filled with gas or kerosene... If it catches on fire you want to make sure it's totaled. hahaha "Grab that guy's extinguisher" "No, No, don't use that one!"
Oh, and asking the insurancecompany for compensation for the blower is probably NOT a good idea, rather make sure they never knew it was there... Fredrik:whistle:
