Just as the questions asks.... What was it about the SRT over anything else that made you decide/want to buy the vehicle you have?
about a year before I sold my GT... Was pimping a Jeep during that time, then my friend "the///man" gave me a ride in his and I had to buy one... so I did.
Oh, I'm gonna get it for this but .... I was in the process of breaking a bad habit and when I got the urge to be bad, instead of being bad I would go test drive cars. Not for buying, just distraction. Anyway, I was testing 07 SRT Magnums (huge discounts) for kicks and giggles when I spotted a Crossfire SRT-6 in the corner of the lot. Now I always wanted one but they just cost too dang much for such a small car. Not being impressed with the interior of the Magnum (I have a loaded 300C already) I took a look at the SRT-6. WTF is this? 06? No farking way!! Did a little digging and the rumor was 12 or 13 made in 06. Took the sweetie to take a look .... she hated it but I loved it. She said to me "you want it, buy it, but don't expect me to drive it, the 300C is mine now" so it was said, so it was done. I freaking love my SRT-6. Now the only problem is keeping it almost stock. You know, I want to be bad again and now I don't how to distract myself. What do you want to hear when you reach the pearly gates? "Which SRT do you want as a daily driver" Les
What were some of the other "distractions"? How many cars did you test drive before finding the 6? Okay Smart Guy..... Why did you want the SRT? Explain!!!
Good question Maureen ... I loved the look of the 300 since I first saw it ... the classy yet aggressive look. The cars low stance, big wheels and insane power attracted itself to a then 25 year old. I was able to have a look that expressed my personality while still being able to take clients out in it. I absolutely love this car ... I am happy about the decision I made to buy it and I hope to keep it forever ..
Well I was a year away from graduating college and needed a new car, went to chrysler and looked at a loaded 300C. Fell in love with it, but then my parents offered me their Escalade, so I took that. Then when I graduated college I was going to get my own car for a graduation present. By that time my good friend had got a 300C, so I didn't want the same thing. I decided to go charger instead. Looked around and in all honesty, I didn't like any of the chargers (looks wise) except the SRT. They just looked badass. Went and test drove one and loved it .Then went back to school to take my last final. Came home that weekend and a black '07 Charger SRT8 was in the driveway!
Mine was just a fluke... had my PT Cruiser GT H/O in for service and they fell in love with it. I had it for two years, garage kept, never driven in rain or at night, so the car was absolutely flawless and they begged me to try out a charger RT. I did but didn't really like it! Then my wife found the Mag SRT and said you gotta see this car. Went to look, fell in love, dickered with the sales team for a couple of weeks and they bought it! I really love it and I'm as anal with this car as my last. Mine is an 06 with 4,280 miles... also never driven in rain or at night! Weird but that the way I want it... flawless, if I can help it!
Couldn't let you have the badest ride in the stable. haha Someone very special, mrssrt10. :huglove::huglove:
well i got mine for the track experience. and for my second one (traded my first one) was for the free stuff that i got from the dealer. yeah right i bought it cause i want style and power:bigwink:
Well, I sold my Firehawk about a year and a half before I bought my SRT and was dying to get another V8 car. My Maxima was nice, but just wasn't cuttin' it. I had my eye on the Charger SRT8 ever since it came out and I needed a 4 door car with my 2 young kids so the purchase was a no brainer in my book as it satisfied both of my needs. The only thing lackin' was it just wasn't fast enough still!LOL I took care of most of that now!Hehehe
Last pre-30 birthday present and I fell in love when I got a brochure from Dodge in the mail with the Black Charger SRT drifting in the sand/dust/dirt... I'd been a closet Mopar nut for years. Dad brought Mom and I home from the hospital in a late 50s Dodge Windsor Deluxe (light blue with the hood ornament my mom tells me). I grew up completely in love with Bo Duke and the General Lee. I still consider my DVD of The Vanishing Point the best porn ever. And I'd been driving a V8 Durango since '99 and needed something with power. A couple of weeks before, the Durango got dinged when some old codger (88 his license said) decided to attempt suicide by turning left against traffic (me). Fortunately no one was injured aside from his Mercedes wagon's right rear door and my Durango's front left corner. So after a couple of days with no Mopar I went for a test drive. They had an Inferno R/T Charger. It had a lot of pick-up, but I knew I had to have the SRT. They just happened to have one on a car carrier some place. So I made a deposit and it turned up a week later. I didn't realize at the time that it was one of the first in the Bay Area, but hell I didn't care. I was just head over heels in love with driving her. And three years, a husband, a baby, three Spring Fests, multiple road course/auto-cross days, two trips to SEMA, and numerous other meets, greets, drag strips, and car shows I'm still completely smitten! /poetic waxing Basically it had to be a Mopar, it had to have a Hemi, and I prefered the looks of the SRT over the other Chargers. If they hadn't offered the SRT package for a Charger I may have ended up just keeping the Durango forever.
I wasn't really looking. My wife said that she liked the new Chargers. I started researching and saw that they had an SRT version...it was all over from there. Keith
Rented a 300C in Portland. Nice car, too plush and not fast enough for me. Had read about the SRT8 and really hadn't seen or driven one. Called one of the dealers I know in Phoenix and bought my SRT8 off the showroom over the phone, sight unseen. Was waiting for us when Cindy and I got home from Portland. Bought it in Sept, and didn't get home till October. They had 22's on it, I said I wanted the stock wheels. Their tire shop screwed up 2 of the rims trying to polish them. Burned thru the plastic coating. Tried to slip it by me. I said I wanted them replaced. They said, How would you like all 4 chromed instead. I said OK, lets do it. I was going out of town for 3 more weeks, came home to some beautiful chromed wheels. I have yet to see any wheels I like better on my SRT8.
The first Charger SRT8 I had spotted was a Silver on base where I was stationed. Loved the look and decided once I had retired from the AF, started a new job and paid off the 04 Mustang GT - I was going to get one. Then I was given a very good piece of advise from a friend who had retired a year earlier. If within five years of retirement, you plan to buy a new car, house, etc; then buy it before you retire so the credit and pay would not be an issue. I started looking closer and closer to all the Charger SRT8's I saw in IL and for the life of me...all I saw was the black and silver ones.....then on one faithful day, driving to a BBQ at the families house...saw my first TorRed.....immediately I knew this was the color for me. It took me three weeks, once I started talking with the dealer to get it....they had to find one, work a trade deal, and then deliver. They traded a Chrysler Town-n-Country for my SRT8 I definitely got the better ride
owned bmw's for years, had two at the time and wanted to get rd of both for a M5....... was on my way to work one morning and saw a new silver car sitting in my neighbors driveway that looked friggin mean....... he had a brand new silver srt charger in dec. 05'....... i stopped, got out and gave it the once over. did not even know what kind of car it was. did some research and next thing i know i am trading two late model bmw's straight across for my charger in jan 06'...... i wanted big, 4-doors and lots of power....... i guess i made a good choice!! lol
