Depends on where you're at. Where I was, every Thursday was Steak and Crab legs. Food wasn't THAT bad. Just repetitive things.
Yea, if you're inland, instead of steak and crab legs it might be garden salad with a dijonais dressing, blackened fillet of sole with buttered new potatoes, and baked alaska for desert. haha, I see Markus on the thread.
Wade, it really does depend on the deployment. Field Exersice? TDY (Temporary Duty)? In the field you can expect M.R.E.'s most of the time with an occassional Hot meal. At least back in my day, we would expect a Hot meal every 3rd day. Sometimes we got lucky and got a Hot meal once a day. lol
When I deploy...I get to eat fresh eggs for the first couple of weeks...then it goes to powdered....yuck.
most of the big bases now in iraq have contracted KBR and it like a vegas buffet but like some people already said its the same everyday....it gets old quick
I've got a good ol USA high protein shake waiting for you when you get home brother:thanks::hug::baby:
The first version's were. lol But you learn to get creative while in the field, so it wasn't all that bad.
The ones I ate were actually pretty good...but then I never really had to eat them for an extended period of time. As a matter of fact, the three years I was in, I think the number of times I had to eat an MRE could be counted on one hand. izza:
Like others said, it really depends on the location. Ourfirst few months in Kirkuk, it was nothing but MRE's. Once the Service's folks got the kitchen tent up and running, I got my mega breakfast slammer every morning. When you go through the line, you take two of the hard 4"x4" waffles, eggs, bacon, and hashbowns and make a sandwich out of it. Damn...I actually miss those. Then on the other side of the coin, Victory Base had like 5 chowhalls throughout it. Everyone from the kennels would pile in the truck and we'd hit a different one every day.
