Folks. A coworker has a SUSPECTED bent wheel. The tire has gone flat twice, VERY slow leak. Tire store claims no tire damage/defect. Where can I direct them to go in the San Diego area that is a reputable place to have the wheel inspected for damage?!?!
Slow leak? Nobody has a pool or a kids pool? You sink the tire (or part of it if standing up) and wait to see tiny little bubbles (coming from the vicinity of the tire...). Could be a valve stem (valve inside the stem) or the seal between the valve stem and the wheel. Or has everything not been disclosed? Maybe a pic of the SUSPECTED bad portion of the wheel?
i'm with dave...... a slow leak does not constituted a need for a wheel repair specialists..... usually......... unless it has been hit hard on something!!!
Secondary method (also requires removing wheel from car to be thorough). Mix up solution of dish soap and water in spray bottle. Carefully spray solution on tire and where it meets the rim. Again, watch for bubbles.
Yea! Apparently his tire place didn't? Maybe the tire place said "You're lucky, it doesn't appear that you damaged the tire when you did that". I'm thinking there's a lot more to this story... Is it an SRT8 wheel and tire? If someone was standing behind this co-worker at a baseball game would they still be able to see the game but with some distraction from the glare of the lights reflecting?
Its not an SRT8, its a BMW. They got into a minor fender-bender awhile back and a few days afterwards, the tire went flat. So, I don't think the accident caused it. I'll suggest the testing methods you outlined! Thanks! Wasn't me, you douche! I said coworker... and it isn't Ryan according to your scenario... Ryan's fat ass would completely block the view.
Yea, right. They always get on those radio shows or ask the doctor things... "I got this friend who has this problem..."
More details: This has happened TWICE on the same wheel with new tires and valve stems! Tire shop couldn't see a wheel defect. The 'leak' appears to be coming from the seal (outside). How the hell does a wheel get screwed up without getting hit hard?!?! Its a used 2004 vehicle, and since purchase last year, that wheel hasn't taken a major hit. BTW: I'm glad a bunch of SOCAL folks are responding to help good ole Momo out with a wheel shop.
