Lately I have been getting bad wheel hop on hard acceleration from a stop.I was hoping someone could provide info on what is causing this/ and how to resolve it. I suspect road/tire temp might be a factor as well as tire pressure. Any help on this would be appreciated. Thanks. Rich
I have heard of some having this issue while most do not. Wish I could give some insight on this, but I can not. I am sure that one of our expert residents will chime in soon...
Sorry to be such a newbie and chiming in........... but I think I have experienced that in mine. I was thinking it was the traction control, while breaking...like rocking the back end back and forth. judd
My ESP was off. I wasnt powerbraking. Just launching in first gear from a stop. I have to gradually push the throttle to prevent it instead of full out hammering it down. I suspect those crappy stock goodyears to be the culprit.
The SRT-10 regular cabs come with a "hop damper". It's a 5th shock, that's mounted longitudinally between a frame crossmember and the top off the differential cover. Many have changed out the OEM Bilstien shock in the hop damper for an adjustable one (QA1, BeCool, etc). It's helped a bunch with launches. On the trucks, CalTracs are the popular option. QC owners swear by the CalTrac setup (they don't have a hop damper).
