    Today was the first day I really took the car into town to do some running around and I noticed the temp was running just slightly on the high side. Staying around the first mark just after 200. Not sure what temp it is. I only ask because I don't remember it running this warm last summer and over the winter I flushed it and put in a new thermostat. All winter it ran fine but now that its about 80 outside its starting to creep up there. I check the fluid levels and everything seems ok. It might be normal as far as I know so correct me if I'm wrong but I was hoping the 180 thermostat would help it run cooler.

    Don't worry about it. The 180 thermostat is meant to work at speed, meaning that if you are going like 40 or more it will cool down your engine. During stop and go city driving it really won't be able to do a lot, but as soon as you are moving for any period of time it will cool you right back down. In stop and go driving before I got the thermostat I would see temps of around 220 pretty regularly. :)

    good god Mike.

    Do you have the Predator yet?

    If so, go to the Diablo section and look at my how-to for setting the fans for a 180.

    And yea, what Mike said.

    with a 180 tstat and diablo .. I run from 195 to 205 in the city .. I hate hearing the fan on all the time, so I let the car run a little hotter and have the fan setting at 205

    Likewise. 180 tstat and the diablo fan set fairly aggressively and run ~200-210 in the spring and summer ... but the fan does get annoying. I keep my diablo handy in the car for when I get all dressed up for a night on the town because like the WHRRRRRRR of you fan when you're pulling into valet is not teh sexy. (Tho on a side note, valet gets awful attentive when you give yer zoomers 5000 rpms in neutral while in a covered valet line grin)

    I think you better rethink that priority list (must be some young guy in love)

    Seriouosly...I just added the 180 stat to my car. Before resetting the fan temps, the car would run around 185-190 untill I slowed down or hit traffic. Then it went back up to the old 210 cause the fans were still on stock setting. Changed the temps to almsot what 1bad4dr provided (thanks for the help) with some input from the diablo site. Car now holds 185-190 in traffic. When it hits 90 outside on Sunday I'll see how anoying the fan noise is but for now it sure runs sweet.

    So it sounds like its normal operation then... I can't wait to get that predator then. Still debating, wait till the layoffs come and then if I have a job buy it or fukk it and charge it all now and then just write it off if I get laid off. hmmm

    Oh its cool man, never thought different. Yolanda was sitting here reading it too and said "You know, now you've gotta get one"

    SCORE!:dancing:

    What I think you meant to say was 'Durangatang, you're GETTING pussy for putting a ring before a predator!'

    :pelvicsmilieys::pelvicsmilieys::pelvicsmilieys:

    Tho the reverse isn't totally favorable either ... my GF has stolen both my Predator and my Valentine-1 now for her GCSRT8. Cheaper than a ring tho ;)

    Yea, I have my low speed fans come on at 192 and the high speed at 200. It hits 195 at times in town.

    The T-stat determines your minimum temp. The fans control how far over the minimum it goes. Your stock fans come on at 210 and 219 I think.
