I was at the track on Friday night. It was super busy so I only got in 3 runs and my first two went just fine. On my 3rd run something strange happened. I was at the line at the light turned green and I mashed the pedal just like I always do and the rpm's spiked and then went down and back up again like 3 times in just a second and I really didn't go anywhere. Also there was white smoke pouring out my tail pipes. So I stopped to make sure nothing was broken and everything seemed fine so I drove off and have had no problems since. Does anyone have any clue what made it do this?
Are you popping any codes on it? I think if it works like the SRT-10's you gotta turn the key on three times and then on the 4th try leave it on the on position...I dunno.:erm:
BTW...where at in Maricopa. I am from Mesa originally before I got into my current line of work.:salut:
No I didn't get any codes. Maricopa is a new town south of phx. I used to live in chandler and tempe. I go to ASU now.
Actually..Maricopa has always been there. It used to be dairy farms and trailers when I was growing up there. My Aunt used to own a tire shop out there. Anyways, good luck finding out whats up..I would have your motor checked out before you try to race again though... Better safe than sorry!:thumb3:
A buddy of mine thought that it might be my O2 sensor I just got my exhaust done and something could have happened to it.
I had something similar happen to me after installing my first cmr tune. I was at a stoplight and tagged it when the light turned green. It felt like limp mode because it would rev to 3k then back to idle. I got off the gas and back on a few times (the entire ordeal taking on the order of I'd guess 10-12 seconds) and finally everything went back to normal. Scared the shit out of me, and I'm sure the line of cars behind me wasn't really happy either. I asked DK about it and he seemed to think the TCM had a brain fart. Only happened once, and hopefully never again.
Ok good I was kinda thinking the same thing that the TCM just was trying to take over and getting confused when I lit up the tires
Did it redline? I had something weird happen last Fri at the track It happened after someone spilled some car guts on the track and they had to do clean up (it sucked to be first up after a clean up) I hit the gas and what i think happened is that I lost traction on all four wheels because I just sat there for brief moment and then hook up totally screwed up my run the engine reacted the Jeep did not I had the ABS Mod on so maybe if I hadn't (on that particular run) it would have helped
You can see my mods list in my sig. My best run of the night I ran 13.58 at 98.2 mph. And my second run I spun my tires on the launch and ran a 13.64 at 100.4 mph
Ya I think that it did redline or atleast came close each time the rpm's spiked. There had be alot of people spiling stuff on the track and breaking down all night.
are you sure you didnt experiance the 2wd issue and your back tires were spinning. and the drop in rpm was shifting into 2nd?
That might have been it too but what really throwing me off is all the smoke coming from my tail pipes it was like I was burning alot of oil
Is it still blowing smoke or did it stop?If it went into a high vacuum condition you may have sucked oil through the PCV.......but that smoke is usually a blue tint......white smoke is more indicative of Coolant.
I can't comment for black but in my case definitely not. It was freaky/scary...Kind of like your laptop's desktop.
Have you ever logged your long term and short term fuel ADAP with the predator?. Usually when you put a CMR tune in that has the LT and ST fuel trims way off it will do this until the computer learns itself.
