Well guys i got around to getting my kooks headers installed today but i'm still looking for more out of this truck without having to S/C it or go on the bottle. So far i got Borla S, kooks headers, predator tune, 180 t stat, and a volant CAI. Are there any other not so expensive things out there that i should have on this truck? Any suggestions are appreciated, thanks guys.
If you are handy you can throw a cam in there for about 500 bucks. If you have to take it somewhere and have it installed the labor gets pretty steep. But I would suggest a cam, and if you really want to go way out throw some heads on there too. Its a night and day difference from stock
Didja do an IAT relocate too? That's fairly inexpensive... Someone had a real good write-up on it... Phenolic spacers? No extra power, just let's you keep what you have...longer. Billet catch can? Fairly inexpensive too... Hmm... Matty
If you were to have a good shop put a cam in for you, I would say they wouldnt charge you no more than 8-12 hours. And also if you live near one of the supporting vendors, or near one of their authorized dealers. They may hook you up with some cheap labor, and people that really know what they are doing
It DEFINETLY did. I drove PALELLA's beast today and wooooah does that thing pull. And sounds amazing. :headspin:
Ported/coated stock intake manifold: http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=947 Part of my Stage II Package. I'll also have results from my ported stock TB as soon as I can get time on the dyno.
Sorry JRED.....I dont know how to properly use the moderator powers and I responed on your thread.....phew...anyway.. Definetly install an oil seperator and I recommend the GSM phenolic spacers. Take the snorkel and cut it so it exposes the filter to the on coming air at the grille. Cut the side of your brake duct either 3 or 4 " and deflect some air up into the filter box as well. These are cheap DIY mods.
I actually cant take credit for the idea.........I saw it on a BMW forum and went from there. Good eye though......it keeps the brake duct design functional but allows some cooler air to be diverted. I dont like all the duct tape I have holding the 4" duct but it works for now until I can get a metal or fiberglass tube fabricated.
I might have to pick up a spare and do the same. I don't want to lose the functionality of the brake duct but I don't want to lose the gain in power at speed either.
