on the Neon SRT-4, directly under the engine bay there is a rectagular plastic flap that just sticks out. it rubs everytime i go over a speedbump (lowered on hotchkis). i was told by my friends at University Dodge dealership NOT to remove it and to trust them on that. comments? should i remove it? and if not, why not?
ahh.. comes down about 1.5" about 1 foot behind bumper? i believe its just a splashguard protector.. not sure all of what could be harmed by removing it, but scraping isn't doing any harm either. i have 4" of front clearance and i rarely scrape (have sportlines, and a 2" lip) the thing i scrape the most is my injen midpipe.
It serves a purpose. It helps keep the engine cool. I remember a tech at work telling me about all these Camaros coming in complaing there temp was at like 240. Turns out it was from the air dams getting damaged and falling off since it was a lower car. Unless you are talking about that little piece that hides the lower pressure pipe... Probably just a spash shield, so it doesn't fling up a bunch of water at your belts and stuff.
it's about 1 feet away from the front bumper and if you look at it from the front of the car, it would hang down vertically
Is it a full piece that goes straight across the bottom of the front bumper. Or is it a small piece that is by the oil filter?
Just a splash guard. I have it still on my SRT-4, but on my wife's SRT-4 its off her car and its been like that for awhile. No problems thus far.
