Driving home from South Padre Island,TX last night, the roads were bare last night so I decided to open it up a bit. I topped out at 163mph for about 5 miles, the truck might have gone a couple miles faster but I didnt wanna be WOT much longer so I let off. I didnt let off much, cruised about 130 for quite some time.(South Padre/Corpus Christi=160 Miles in 1 hour 35 minutes) :boxing: There were little to no winds and the vehicle felt like it was floating, I never drive this fast(Over 140mph) I just wanted to see how fast this vehicle could go. The speed on speedo was over 170 but I had GPS hooked up to laptop to verify. My Vehicle is has only 1 mod,Bwoody CAI and has never been tracked.(Hopefully that will change this Friday)
Personally, I have had mine upto 165 on the dial before shutting it down due to law enforcement infront of me. It was still slowly climbing and loud as hell. Not sure I would try it again on public highways again. :boxing:
Were both you guys in 4th gear ? I really wasnt paying attention to the revs(Was watching road and GPS only) but I do recall going into 5th after about 140MPH(GPS) with autostick. Either way it was fun, I know what she will do.
That's not me in the photo, I've only had mine to 150-155 (indicated) but yes it was in fifth. We are redline limited in 5th gear. Makes me wonder if we could pull top speed in 5th with 3.55s.
A couple of years back I almost hit an armadillo on the highway between Corpus and Houston. They don't move that fast, but I didn't see the dang thing in my headlights until just the nick of time (going about 80 mph - not the GCSRT). Makes you wonder what would happen if you hit an armadillo going 165... :stretcher:
The Stock Factory SRT8 Domestic package has a 170 MPH limiter and the International package has a 180 MPH limiter... Hope this helps
Thanks Dave, Could you help without giving proprietary information at this thread http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1723
We do have 3.73s. 3.55s would allow for a theoretically higher top speed in fifth gear than 3.73s. Also, that's not my pic, but I wish I could take credit for it.
