Ok well im serioulsy wanting more power and want to stay N/A for now anyway, either one will be low compression for future boost applications, heard alot of good and bad about the 440 and only good about the 426. Ill be keeping my Mondello stage 3 heads and putting them on either or. Lets have it guys, what would you do?
Which ever you choose, go with a 10.3:1 CR. This way you won't lose NA power and still a good CR for a ,ediu, boost application. 426's have been proven for a couple years now. The 440's are still fairly new.
The Arrington 440 seems to be doing quite well, junior666 made 45 hot lap passes at the track last week with them in his Jeep, I beleive he was running 11.6's all day.
426 I have to say, my Inertia 426 is a beast, 1st and 2nd gear smoking sideways burnouts rolling at 10 mph! alot of fun N/A! Like previous post, Junior 666 ran 45 back to back passes with his 440 Arrngton! that should answer any doubts about that engine! and its warrenteed! Enjoy whatever your decision is!
I couldn't agree more that junior666 has proven "His" build with flying colors, but that is only one motor. Not saying the Arrignton 440 is bad, just not enough motors out there to make an accurate analysis...
There arent enough out there because the 440 is only available through Arrington. I'm not here to cheerlead, just to share my in the seat of my pants experience. I had HHP stage 2 head and cam package with the works, converter, kooks and caback. Then I went to HHP 426, wow what an in the seat torque difference, The dyno numbers where about 35-40 horse and same tq upgrade. The difference was amazing. Now I have gone with an Arrington 440 with a 645 lift cam. Holy shit is all I can say. I went from 460 hp 460 tq to 519 hp and 515 tq AWD Dyno. Thats a nearly 60 hp jump to the 440. I will NEVER regret it. My jeep is an effin monster!! And the best thing is I pull like a mother up top. I can roll race with just about anything. If anyone wants a test drive let me know!!
If you have the ability to "choose" your CR...Go with Mid 9's or so if you are dead set on LC along with more CI's.... that way you have minimal loss (my 9 to 1 is probably way over kill but wanted to be sure).... depends on how much boost your considering running....
When I do get a Chally sometime down the road...or maybe a jeep...I was thinking about the 440...............has anyone bumped the CR up to around 11?........not planning on doing a blower on my future Hemi....I will be keeping the truck and it gives all the blowing I can stand..
I heard or is it true that the 440's drink alot of oil ? I heard about from time to time but have not seen a tread or comment on this ?
Just because you can doesn't mean you should...He shortened the life of that motor that day, no matter how you look at it. Not to say it wasn't reliable, and won't be now...but damn...45 back to back to back to back etc etc....poor motor. If I made 45 passes in a YEAR i'de feel quizzy. My choice would still be a 426...again, just because you can doesn't mean you should. And if your going to add a SC later, i'ts a better choice to begin from.
WHAT HE SAID!!! And a 10:3.1 CR is juuuuuuust fine. N/A, you'll get balls for days!!! Hell, mine STILL scares me at points. And then if you wanted to add 6-8lbs of boost safely, no problem. And that would easily give you a 625rwhp sled, running high 10's all day baby!!!! (that's my goal, anyway)
I have a 426 and I had a 440 line up next to me at ZMAX dragway in Aug... lets just say it was not even close... I was even nice enough to lend him a set of Drag wheels and tires. When Crazy Junior slows down a bit and learns how to launch that 440 ... I will get concerned..... Till then.... any good 426 with a head and cam combination which will give both the TQ down low and up top HP coupled with a SIZED appropiate Stall convertor will be more than enough to place a grin on your face from ear to ear.
How did I miss this quote!! Dont forget James I have a Jeep with a little more weight, no way to heat up slicks, and torque managment issues that you lx/lc guys dont. On oct. 10th there will be only 1 currently driven na 426 that may be faster than me and that is you!! Trust me!!
