Just seeing if any other fellow SRTC members have the G1 or even the MyTouch HTC Google devices (phones). Would like to see what you have done to them and what are your favorite apps and why... I'll go first... T-Mobile G1 About two weeks ago I rooted the phone (admin access) and I'm running a CyanogenMod ROM. This is something that voids your warranty and something that can brick your phone (make it into a useless paper weight) if not done right. I debated it for days to do it, since I paid $405 for the phone. So now, why did I root my phone you ask? Well depending on what ROM you load into the phone you have control and access to things a regular un-rooted G1 won't be capable of doing so. I have 5 screens on my G1 while a standard G1 has 3. I have (1) clean compact easy to use widget that toggles WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Sync, and Brightness (3 levels) on the phone. Now a rooted G1 with a loaded ROM comes with apps not availabe on the market or online or the general apps that come with the phone (some). On a standard G1 when you pull up the tab to view all your apps they are line up in 4's, while mine has 5 apps in a row. Now what makes a rooted phone even better is the fact of applying Wifi Tethering. I can use my rooted G1 as a wireless router in which any internet connecting device (laptop/comp/etc.) can be used to connect to the Internet through my phone. Something further that I've have yet to do is partition the SD Card, that way I can free up more memory on my phone by moving apps to the SD Card and running them off of it instead of the phone. Picsay is a good photo editing app that you can apply props, text and so fourth... share it by email, text, etc. This app I have on my phone. I also like Shazam because its something that everyone should have on their G1/MyTouch reason... you ever been out somewhere... hear a song you like and you want to know the artist/song/album? Well Shazam does that, a song is playing... you open the app, you begin to tag, it listens and tells you everything about the song including some links online to purchase. I have many other apps on my phone and continue to try new ones and learn about others people use. But here's what I like most of about mine... The fact I can play old Nintendo games . This is capable of doing with an app called Nesoid which is a NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) Emulator. Oh the memories and when it says 1988, 1989, etc when I start the games makes me feel old as hell (although I'm only 24 :baby:... almost 25). So if you have the G1/MyTouch please share your experience, and if you've been interested in one or looking for one and have any questions shoot away...
