I received this PM from Hal on SRTConnection.com!

Its hard to write a post about something that happened like this because its hard to explain all the emotions, trials and tribulations that come along with it. I will do my best to make it as easy to follow as I can.

WE have been using Hals 300 to prototype on for the last few months. With our intake, the radiator cover and some other parts. We delivered the car to Hal Wed. night for SF09. We added a firewall, half covers, strut covers, fuse box cover and a prototype Radiator panel.

I trimmed all the parts and fit them including the firewall that caused the problem. It started when the firewall I trimmed cut into the main harness and created a short which caught the fresh air box on fire. Hal was able to put the fire out with bottles of water he had with him, Had I trimmed the part another 1/4" I would not be writing this post.

I agree with Hal that this community is unlike any I have been in the people are very supportive and helpful and when push came to shove the real family was there to help us and Hal in a time of need. The car will be at AEcarbon some time today and we will start the rebuild of the car. We were so proud to have Hals car in our booth at SF09 and felt honored that he chose our products and our company to work with on the prototyping.

    I would like to thank
    Hal and Cindy
    Joe Abrahams
    Cam
    Funky chicken
    Scott from Billet Tech
    Jess V
    Dan R

And thanks to all those who I missed! and the ones I dont know that helped out

    Right on George.

I must say, it was AWESOME to see ALL those who pitched in to frantically try and get Hal's beast back on the road. Cam, Adam (1fastsedan), John (SDCarguy), Joe (fulofit), Scott (1FST4DR), JohnW, PLCMan, George (aecarbon), Jess (srt9), and other whom I can't think of right now (old age and all lol) stepped up to the plate like no other to figure this out.

After speaking with George on several occassions this past weekend, I could detect the emotional state George was in. George was most certainly sad at this happening, but was determined to make things right by Hal AND those who assisted.

My hats OFF to ALL who lent a helping hand this weekend.

Way to impress the world of car nutz guys.

I saw this whole thing go down from Friday when I got there Till hals car was on the trailer and I have to say....these guys ALL worked their asses off and the AE Carbon guys were ALL OVER IT...Like it was said, if you had to have an issue like this anywhere...SF was the place to do it....you had the HEMI gods all assembled in one place and all looking over hals car.

I have NO doubt that Hals car will be done better than ever and on the road soon!

I just wish I knew anything and coulda helped myself!

i read the comments in hals pm and it gave me goose bumps!! we all joke around and constantly rib each other on the various forums, but i will say this, owning this car has had a PROFOUND impact on my life in the past 3 years. this is just one more example of the kind of people you find in our lx community. many of the guys listed that helped i consider close friends and family!!! all i can say is i am truly sorry this happened, but i am so proud to be a part of a community of people that step up like this!!!

for what its worth george, i know the feeling of working your butt off creating a carbon masterpeice only to see a VERY small detail derail your excitement! between building carbon intakes and fabricating prosthetic devices for people, i know exactly what you are going through when something goes south on you...... kudos to you for stepping up and taking responsibility...... as i said in hals thread, that speaks volumes for the type of person you are!!!

Just want to thank all that pitched in and let you all know we were able to drive the car into the trailer for the trip to our shop.

It arrived yesterday late, and I started removing the harness I pulled from my MSRT in px and we installed on hals ride in the parking lot at the hotel. We are ordering a new harness and will install it as soon as it arrives.

In the mean time we will be pulling all the damaged parts and cleaning up the bay.

We will also be making a few new custom parts for hals car that we hope all will enjoy.

There are many things to get done but is should not be too long a process.

Thanks to Cam, Pete, Scott, Jess, Dan, and everyone else that spent time under the hood, in the trunk, under the car busting their asses and their skin to get the car to run.

We are proud to have Hal and Cindy in our corner and we will do all we can to make this car fit the schem Hal has in mind.

It was nice to see so many lend a hand, I hope when we pull the cover off the car upon completion many of you can attend the event at our shop, this time the fire will be on the grill.....and no not hals... the BBQ.

We will keep everyone posted as we progress,
    all the best,
    Full
