Well, we all know how AWESOME Billet Tech is, but i must say, these Valve Covers are "Flawless". WOW! I received that V.C.'s a couple weeks ago and have been putting off today, what I can do tomorrow. lol Only because I have witnessed first hand the time it takes to install these badass mamma jamma's. The work isn't hard, just time consuming and loads of attention to detail. This morning I received a call from MagFX that he was getting off work early (3ish) and wanted to come over and help me get these Covers in. GREAT, thanks Jonn. lol Talk about a motivating call. haha Sooooooo, off to the parts store I go. I needed longer hoses to be able to move the water reservoir for the blower as it is a complete eye soar (Zit to be exact). Well I couldn't wait for Jonn as it only took me about an hour to remove the covers, cowl, fuel rails/injectors, and the reservoir. lol So here goes my first attempt at installing the pain in the ass side in the passanger side cover. UGH! Nope, gasket falls off (yes, I used some silicone to help keep the gasket in place). Reinstall the gasket and wait about 20 minutes more for the silicone to set. Try number two... AAAAAAAAAAAARH, no joy. lol Ok, so now I move over to the drivers side. Piece of cake, first time go. woo hoo. Back to the passanger side. Third time, NOPE!!! I start looking around and think to myself, hmmm I need to pull this wiring harness up about another inch, so I removed the PCM and was able to get the clearance I needed to pull the cover forward (towards me) enough so that the gasket did not hit the rocker arm assembly... 4th time was the charm. woo hoo. About this time, Jonn show's up to assist. I could see he was a bit disappointed that I had already got the Valve Covers installed. Sorry Jonn. I will say this though, Jonn saved my ASS with the relocation of the reservoir and the reassembly of hardware... After we get the valve covers all bolted up and ready to tackle the reservoir, Jonn noticed that the dip stick housing was still loose. Huh, I had that fugger nice and tight. Come to find out, when shifting the dipstick during the installation of the Valve Cover, I had pulled the housing out of the oil pan (which by the way was a huge part of my oil consumption and smoking issue). Jacked up the car, crawled under and got that little sucker back in its proper place. hehe From there on, everything went smoothly. Thank you SO MUCH Jonn for your assistance. I really do appreciate it. On to the pictures... Before: BT even packages professionally... The baster comes in handy when not wanting to make a mess. lol Old versus new... After: Thanks Jonn (MagFX)
no, the coil packs will be anodized black with BT's signature design series etching. I am thinking of having Loid's do something special though. hehe
Touch and Grab! Hey Ron, Thanks for letting me touch your.................BT valve covers and especially the chance to firmly grab your dipstick. Hey, we did get it in, didn't we? Hee hee hee! Seriously, it was a pleasure to help you out a bit. I will never forget when you and Maureen rescued me last January 4th, when my ride went south, on my way to ABQ. One of the best parts of helping Ron, on his bad ass Charger was getting to taste (and devour) some of Maureen's custom, made from scratch, lasagna. Hmmm good. Cheers Maureen and Ron!
ron - looks great.... fix that damn hose!!! lol truthfully with your set up, ditch the steel braided stuff and get some nice black nylon braided hose and use that. it is MUUUUUCH easier to bend and contour in tight spots! just a thought. looks great buddy!!! much better without the big zit in the middle of your forehead....ummm..... i mean engine bay!!! lol
So, now we know what was REALLY going on in the garage!! :whistle:HaHaHa!!! Glad you liked the dinner, Jonn!
Thanks Al. Hell man, with the way your engine bay looks now, who needs them? lol Would certainly look great in your bay, that's for sure.
