Question. When I had my CMR tune back in June, I had a 190 t-stat in. I let the shop know that I had a 180 t-stat but had not yet installed it. The shop gave me the fan settings when I installed the new t-stat and my dyno numbers at the time were reflective of the mods on the car at the time with the 190 t-stat. Would the installation of 180 t stat, along with the fan settings to compliment the new t stat, show any gain in horsepower now dropping to a 181 degree operating temp as opposed to a 191 degree operating temp?
I think that what you really want instead of the lower * t-stat is the Bwoody Thermal Intake Spacers....this will limit your heat soak and hopefully let you use your ponies a little better.... http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10461 This will keep your intake from heating up too much from contact with the cylinder block which will feed the engine cooler air which is always good! :thumb: *but lowering the T stat is a good thing as well....dont think that im saying not to haha*
Steve is correct in you adding the thermal spacers. Also, to answer your question on T-Stat and Heat Soak. If you add the 180 and settings, you will regain maybe 5 horsies from the difference in the 180 and 190 stat. Do I recommend the 180 over the 190? Absolutely. Here is the link to my How-To for setting the fan settings on the predator. http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7403
Thanks fellas. I already have a BWoody ported and thermal coated intake manifold (top and underside thermal coated) so the spacers are moot for me unless they will offer some sort of extra benefit.
