    From this website:

    http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FirstDrives/articleId=102166

On their own, the SRT-6's output figures are impressive, but glance at the SLK32's specs and you'll see that it's listed at 349 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Why the difference? "Calibrations to account for [tighter] emission standards," was the explanation given to us by the SRT public relations staff. Only the most serious drivers will detect any differences in actual acceleration, though: Chrysler claims the 3,240-pound SRT-6 coupe will sprint to 60 mph in five seconds flat, while an SLK32 of similar weight can reach that velocity in 4.8 seconds. Additional modifications were made to the exhaust system to set the Crossfire version apart from the SLK original, and we can attest that the SRT-6 sounds great coming out of the blocks.

The weight of a Charger is approximately 4250, with 425 hp based on the factory specs.

    So, 349 hp / 3240 lbs SRT-6
425 hp / 4250 lbs SRT-8 (give or take depending on whether its a 300 or a Maggie or a Charger)

    Ya,

I was over at the OC forum and everyone's experience with an SRT6 was mixed. If stock it sounds like a driver's duel until 100+ then supposedly the SRT8 getz a going!

Yeah, but in terms of handling, the 6 ownz. The 8s kind of live up to the old Mopig moniker. Like I've said elsewhere, if I could, I'd own both.

    Thanks Tam,

I thought I typed a response oh well here we go again. I was on the OC forum and they said in their encounters with an SRT6 it came down to the driver. Supposedly the SRT8 got it going after 100+. :dancing::clap::thumb2:

Threads like this are teh LAME. Why would these two even be compared is beyond me. It's like Mustang guys calling SRT-4's gay when they get ass raped. It's still comparing two completely different cars, that had different goals when being produced. SRT-6 on a road course will leave an 8 behind

If magazine racing is your thing though, I will entertain:

    SRT-6
    1/4 Mile: 13.3 @ 107.4
    60-0 Braking: 111 ft.
    http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0408_2005_chrysler_crossfire_srt_6

    SRT-8
    1/4 Mile: 13.5 @ 106.3
    60-0 Braking: 124 ft.
    http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupe/112_0512_sport_coupes_comparison/specs_price.html

    In my opinion, 2 doors > 4 doors, so 6 > 8.

Ummm... Maybe I'm just tired (since my alarm goes off in 1 hour and 20 minutes) but I have NO CLUE what that is supposed to mean :dunno2:.

    :rofl2:

Back to the power to weight ratio question though, they are both similar.

If the 8 weighs in at 4250, and dyno's 376, that equates to about 11.3 lbs per HP. The 6 at 3220, and dyno's 300, is about 10.7 lbs per HP. That's not much difference, and isn't substantial enough to even notice.

    SRT-8 dyno:

    SRT-6 dyno:
    http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa53/saintmischief/P9150055.jpg

Hopefully that will suffice, and end this (IMO pointless) comparison, even though dynos vary greatly, there is probably no telling unless they both ran the same dyno at the same time.

    Good night!

In my mind, my SRT8 will do it faster than any car out there! Then again, I'm a moron!

    I sort of agree... BUT!...

If someone's comparing vehicles for the sake of comparing them for 'bang for buck', then its cool. But, like you said, they are two different vehicles in different classes. So paper-racing is pointless. But, everyone likes to know where their car stands amongst its 'peers'.

An SRT6 will beat an SRT8 on a roadcourse. I (among many others)drove both at the "Experience".

Acceleration, well, IMO and not paper-racing, I felt the SRT6 accelerated about the same, maybe a tad faster, as my former 2006 Mustang GT... which is indeed a bit slower than the SRT8s.

The only 'complaint' I had with the SRT6 was the seating felt small for me... but I'm 'pudgy'.

Ran against a SRT6 a cuppla times at Speedworld on 11/03. Surprised me how quick they could be.

They are a great little car! Hold their own pretty well up though the 1/8th, then start to fade after that, naturally enough.
