So.... not counting new mods, how does the new SRT4 stand up to the old SRT4 Neon? Weight? HP? 0-60....etc?
The Caliber does weight more, but it also is "boost limited" in lower gears to help with traction. So your not putting down the rated horsepower in every gear. I see 5psi in 1st gear. 7psi in 2nd. And full boost 10psi in 3rd all the way up to 6th. Plus other factors such as not able to fully shut down ESP and Drive-by-wire doesnt help either.
Weight is the main killer on the CSRT. The CSRT weighs about 300 lb/more than the NSRT. Stock for stock, the CSRT is much closer to the NSRT than most give it credit for. Plenty of stock CSRT's have been running low 14's to high 13's in the 1/4 mile which is on par with the NSRT.
Well I had a Neon and it was more violent and also unrefined compared to the Caliber. I can live with the fact that I can't just bolt on slicks and the extra weight because it's a much more enjoyable all around car then Neon was. Caliber is definitely a weapon once allowed to stretch it's legs with few modifications. It has some limiting factors that still hold it back, but I think it's gonna surprise a lot of NSRT-4 owners out there thinking they're gonna walk away from it. I like to say that the caliber is twice the car the NSRT-4 was. It's to be expected since NSRT-4 was built on a nearly 10yr old platform and Caliber being a whole new design, however I still hold a special place for the NSRT-4 and soon enough I think I'll own another one as a 2nd car.
I agree 100%. With some mods and stg1 its going to be hard to find someone to "play" with. 3rd gear is awesome, imagine more power!!
So is the neon.......unless of course you take the PCM out of the loop :thumb: Let it be known...I'll run with a caliber anyday of the week...at a track of course....
Whatever turd....didn't you put your stock turbo back in? LOL When are you getting an SRT8....used off course...I know how much you make!!! hehe....LULZ
Just because the turbo is back to stock, doesn't mean the whole car is... And there was hope that my car was going to sell two weeks ago. Dude wanted it...but "said" he couldn't get financing....so he bought an RX-8 instead.... :dumb:
http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9386 There is a link for modded to modded run side by side. Caliber wins one!
Realtune has a stock neon vs stock caliber run and they are almost identical. It depends if the neon wot shifts or vice versa. Equals on the highway, drivers race from a dig.
stright line is only one way of testing a few tests i would like to see is on an Autocross course, a Road Course, and Rally. the cars will only go so far when push and it will show if that 10 yrs of old platform is better or worse then the new generation. you can what if, missed a shift, didnt WOT shift, car was in front, and it was too hot in stright line, but no excuses when it comes to the other types of testing. I know they have a CSRT rally car but havent seen it in action or any info of how its done. Edit: so we cat exactly say which one is better until both cars are fully tested
Straight line bench marking is GREAT for stock for stock. Leaves very little for driver error and change of conditions. Mind you it is a bench mark. It is highly doubtful stock for stock that there would be a valid and CONSISTANT benchmark on a road course. There are too many factors to play with, not just driver. In addition the consumer market does not tune specificly for road racing. They tune primarily for the weekend driver. You see that with the mass of suspension components that are produced for these products. Mind you company's build for day to day driving. So the suspension is always the weakest point on any car in order to make sure you are not killing your kidneys driving the car to work. One other thing is these are middle income cars, we are not going to compare it to any exotic or semi exotic as it runs on a completely seperate set of rules.
