Probably USAF. Everyone I talked to from every branch said if they could do it again that's the route they would go and they know something I don't. Job? No idea, I'd love to do Intel or Pilot but I've heard those jobs are near impossible to get.
I've never regretted a day in the military. In fact, I love it! One great thing that has just passed in the past few months is being able to pass on GI Bill benefits to your kids or spouse. I've got around $50K that I can use for my daughters college. I've traveled around the world as a young man. Had the time of my life, and make over $100K a year doing so. I get 30 days paid vacation a year, and when I'm in town and not training, I am home by noon.
100k a year? Wow the money seemed to be a huge drawback at first for me but I didn't know those figures were attainable. I've talked to a few recruiters. I'll be fresh out of college with a business degree next month so I'm debating whether I should put that to use or enter the military because I have wanted to enlist for a few years now, but I am getting a lot of mixed feedback saying to do it or not to do it because I'll have my degree. It's becoming a toss up, but it couldn't hurt to hear from other people.
Since you will have a degree, I would strongly suggest entering as a commissioned officer. I am enlisted right now, but am putting in for a commissioning program this year and will easily quadruple my retirement by doing so.
I loved the Army until Clinton fucked it up... haha Bud (Rick) is absolutely correct, but you must remember, Rick gets many different extra pay for what he does on top of his lower base pay. Rick's short work day when at home is also not the norm. Because Rick is deployed months on end, when he is at home, his unit gives the guys comp time... Yes, you can have what Rick has, but not in the begining. It will takes years to achieve that kind of pay. haha In the end, do what YOU feel is best for you and your family. Do not join the military because you think it is easy, because it is not. Air Force is certainly the better of the four armed forced to join. Good luck on your decision...
