I have a chance to pick up a crossfire Srt-6 (2005) with 21K miles for a really good price. Can I get some comments related to how good this type of car really is?
I would buy it without blinking as long as the price is right. They are different animal than any other car in the SRT line.
I have driven several at the SRT Events....fun to drive and handles like a go-cart in the curves.....almost bought one myself......only negative I have about them is they are a little tight for big guys (tall and/or wide)...I am 6-2 and my head brushed the ceiling.....
ABSOLUTE STEAL. Like Larry said, if you're over 6'2" it'll be a tight fit. Other than that, they're an absolute blast to drive. They're the only supercharged vehicle in the SRT line, and the only one with an hand-built-by-AMG engine. The Crossfire is basically a Mercedes-Benz SLK with a different body/interior....and about $50K less. Handling is fantastic, but with it being RWD it probably won't be all that great in snow. Power is not a problem: light car, blown V-6. It'll go. There are a few basic mods available for the car (suspension, CAI, tires, wheels, etc.). You really won't need much more than that. The car comes pretty well-equipped and nicely setup. It is only a 2-seater....if that's a factor. No backseat. IIRC, there's BARELY enough room for 2 golf bags in the back/trunk, as long as neither is Rodney Dangerfield-sized. The OEM GPS system is kinda weak, but it does work. I'd recommend upgrading that part of the system (or get a stand-alone GPS unit). In the Crossfires, the AutoStick transmission works pretty well. I'd prefer a manual, but I could live with the OEM setup. If it was a black hardtop and only $15K, I'd have one in my driveway.
Congrats...I got a short ride in one, at a local meet. Very nice. Aside from the size thing (I'm 6'3") it was a real blast. As long as you aren't too big, I'm sure you'll love it.
Dang....i would have bought it for that.....my dealer buys crossfires (non-SRT version) at the Chrysler dealer auctions all the time....he gets $17K plus on low mileage 2005s.....................I just looked at the dealer auction (Manhiem)...last 05 SRT6 with 400 miles sold for $16200 on Nov 25...remember that is dealer price not retail....you got a helluva deal at $15K....congrats!!
You got a good deal on a great car. My only negative observacion is that the ride is only as good as the road. But take that 25 mph on ramp at 50 to 55 and you will forgive and forget. The list of what's great about the SRT6 is long and fast. Let us know what you think after a few days. Les
That is a good price. These cars are great to drive. Only a few problems which are easy to fix if you go here and print the repair so the dealer will have a clue: http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/ There are more and more engine mods becoming available to really make these cars scream.
Isn't that an "Efool" forum? I'm sure the vBulletin folks would like to know he removed the copyright notice at the bottom of each page......
