finally ripped into the 10's last week while running Hoosier 28" slicks(thank you :bye: I guess now that I have a time slip I can order my 10 second plates, not cocky enough to do it beforehand)......I had one solid run which broke a 1.55 60ft time while attempting to spray out of the hole..... (All while running slicks) Right now I have a set of slicks and a set of DRs (Both Hoosier) and Im wondering which ones I could expect faster times from. I know I would never be able to spray out of the hole with the DRs, but my 60ft times with DRs aren't much worse on just motor.... I average around 1.65 on motor with DRs.... Would the smaller tire (Gear effect) benefit my times if I started spray in 2nd or should I just stick to slicks and spray from the hole? I know its a diffficult question, I know I should just "Test and Tune" my setup but I most likely can not get back to the track for the next 3+ weeks...... and I guess too much time has me thinking.....
Again, CONGRATS on the 10's. It was ABOUT time. lol Now, IMO, I would stick with the slicks and spray out of the box. At least you will know what's happening by the time you reach the 60, 100, and 330' marker and can adjust or let off. With the DR's, you stand to break traction when the giggle juice comes on around the 100'. When that happens, you may not be able to correct or let off??? Remember, your traction is only as good as the rubber AND track prep... Now, it certainly can't hurt to try both ways. Just make sure the track is well prepped...
I would say track prep is usually decent at Moroso for test and tune nights....not as good as events but good enough. The rubber is night and day between the 2 tires. Right now I can't launch at full stall with the DRs because of traction but I can feather the throttle and rip a good 60 ft but hitting the bottle would be a concern. not even sure when a good time to hit the bottle would be and if I could figure that out determine if it would still make me slower. I guess all I can do is practice. I will most likely continue to run the slicks until I know I have reached what I feel the car is capable of...... I think she has a 10.6 in her, even with the hot So FLA weather...... maybe something slightly better this winter
Thanks! much appreciated..... I think I will just stick to the slicks for now....... I told Kris @ BMC he can use my DRs in the meantime to get some times on his new setup....
LOL..... Daniel their tech is down so we might try to hit the track Wed or Fri of next week I'll PM you if we head out
