Great looking CAR! This is my 2nd 2005 GT Convertible; first one I traded in and still missed it. Both are automatics; not bad though because of the + & - shifting. I had those wheels on my first PT but have the other type 5 spokes on this one. I like the style of the ones you have, just like my first PT. OH, and nice color too. My first one was silver and this one is plum.

That makes me miss the Mrs Cruiser...it almost looks just like the one we had now.

    Need an alignment now!
Perfect drop IMO. Not too low. ST lowering springs (KW) on Excel G struts aka KYB GR-2

Looks great! Unless your alingment was screw up before or unless you decided to mess with the tierods you shouldnt need an alingment. the car should track stright.

    Thanks!

I have always had to do an alignment after doing struts. Steering wheel is like 15 degrees to the left when the vehicle is going straight. Wasn't before. It did track left before too, but that is besides the point. I didn't mess with the tierods at all. Getting it aligned today.

Oh yeah, I got rid of the "PT Cruiser" on the side too. Looked out of place, so I removed it.

thats odd. the last time i had to get an alingment was when i had to replace the rack & pinion from when it was last totaled. when i got it back the wheel wasnt even stright. Since then i've learned how to do my own alingments.

Looks great; I JUST TWO DAYS ago bought another PT GT Cruiser. I just picked up a cool vanilla 06 GT Convertible to add to our collection. My wife said she wanted the PLUM 05 GT so it is now hers.

Well I sold my GT Cruiser today. Do not regret selling it one bit. It was a cool ride and all but after owning it for a little over 7 months. I realize it wasn't something I didn't want to hold onto for a while. Timing belt would of been coming up, so would the clutch probably along with the master and slave cylinder. Very $$$$ repairs.

This is what I ended up replacing during ownership:
    -Spark plugs
    -Spark plug wires
    -PCV valve
    -Thermostat w/gasket
-Upper and Lower intake manifold gaskets
    -Throttle body gasket
    -Surgevalve
    -Solenoid number 2
    -Fuel injector #4
    -Oil drain plug
    -Struts and Springs

I noticed quite a bit of carbon buildup on the valves when I had the lower intake manifold off on cylinder number 1.

Of course I lost some money on it. But it was a learning experience and I did enjoy it when I could. I did not like the fact the handling was horrible and how heavy it was. (Taking out the rear seats did help. 115lbs!!!) Sitting up high even though it is not lowered just felt weird. I saw quite a few base PT's on the road everywhere. The GT's really do not stand out too much when it comes to looks. Only a PT/Mopar enthusiast could really tell. And the only people I saw driving them were 50 yr+ ladies and men. I felt like an old man kind of sort of. :p
Oh the gauges are horrible during the day! You can barely even see them, they are so recessed into the dash.
A 3rd car was also not needed. We are putting the transmission back into my Neon SRT-4 tomorrow. Crossing my fingers on that one.

    Time to move on!

Well sad to see it go but no need for an extra car you dont need/use. Can understand that. I do agree with you about the 50+ people driving them. Which i liked because it was stelth mode. The handling wasnt bad yeah it was top heavy but still had the same handling as the neon and when Autocrossing they posted simular times and had the same pivot points when doing a 360 or 180. Clutches are really expensive no matter what car it is but the timing belt and water pump are pretty cheap to do and not hard it just takes alot of time. Good luck and hope the Neon gets back on the road soon.

Thanks Nevin. I didn't mean to sound like I was bashing the PT. The main reason was, I just did not need it. I actually got my SRT-4 back on the road after its 8 month hiatus on Saturday. Just needs an alignment!

Wife and I love both of our PT Cruiser GT convertibles and have no plans on getting rid of either of them anytime soon.
