So with this new quieter unit,Does it get rid of the whine or the rattling noise?
One more question, does the Knock sensors need to be shut off for the "new"
version? I love the whine of a blower,as Ive had a few in the past. Its the other noise i didnt care for..

Yes, the qd "quite" system is completely silent. It doesn't make a sound at idle or at wot. Very nice got a ride in a vette with it today. That is where my decision is getting hard because I want a wine at wot, but at this point its either or.

I don't think the knock sensors 'had' to be turned off for the current version...only heard one person say that...I don't think Johan had to do that with any of his tunes.

Actually quite a few had to have the knock sensors turned off.

You keep mentioning that Johan didnt need to turn them way down, Youve said it in several forums and several post. This is not true, He had to desensitize them down to the point were he felt them to be still semi-protecting the motor. To say he didnt isnt true. Btw there was still KR at that setting. It was the screws doing it. No ifs' ands' or butts' Now the new QD unit is silent, So yeah they solved there KS issue which to me was a great move not only for tuning there units but also for overall sound at idle. Better to be silent then grinding. Losing the whine at WOT I know nothing about!

Also Stop with the "One person said that" Maybe that was the one and only non biased person running the blower with a wideband, datalogging capabilities and a great working relationship with HIS tuner.

What I said was Johan did not turn them off in any tunes he has done for us on a Techco or any other build for that matter. That statement is a FACT. I can't tell you what other tuners in different parts of the country have or haven't done What I have seen posted several times is that they need to be turned off due to the blower noise, and that is simply not true from what we have seen and what Johan has done. Maybe other tuners see things differently but I think we all agree Johan knows what he is doing...right?

What he did do and this isn't something Techco specific is raise the threshold to detect knock.

Knock sensor's have to be adjusted in many cars tunes...even N/A ones, these cars are very sensitive, I have seen NA 426's produce alot of knock and Johan had to adjust things greatly when N/A in some cases.

I think the silent blowers are great for people who want a sleeper, but I love the whistle they make at idle...

Glad to hear you are unbiased ;)

I agree with you here Kris. What I do not like, and what makes the KS go off is the rock crushing noise at idle.

I wonder if this is an issue due to higher boost or coupled with a 426, because I havent seen that with any stock based Techco S/C's we have done. Lisa's definitely didn't make a rock crushing noise, and that is the one I heard the most, other installs I only have heard for a few minutes...hers had almosta Vortech like whistle at idle

I have heard this noise on stock kits, and will say, on my build it is not as noticable. Oh well. I still like the product that I have.

I never stated " turn them off" I did say that to get rid of ALL false KR they need to be scaled down to a point where most tuners do not feel cozy.

I hear ya, but as you can see...I keep hearing that they have to be turned off, and based on what Johan has done here they are no where near being turned off, in fact he has had to adjust more on other setups even some head/cam cars. He has tuned multiple Techco's and as you know just about every other setup out there.

Well you might want to recall Franks car bud Because it sounds exactly as Ron stated.

On a side side note this*Noise was the one thing I didnt like about the Techo.

I loved the power*Yes I drove a few* ;) Loved the whine even more, but just couldnt get over the infamous*Noise* Now that I hear the noise and whine is gone? Catch 22 I guess

I only heard Frank's car when we went to the dyno it was louder than Lisa's from what I remember but I have not seen him in months. BTW Johan said no knock sensors were turned off in Franks either...

Maybe it has gotten louder since then???

I believe the QD is just an option...Carlos can correct me if I am wrong...they are not replacing the current unit with the quiet one, it is availabel for those who want no sound.
