Sorry its been a few weeks and I have not got around to writing this report, As many of you know Im now running a 15" HHP racing rear wheel, A new mini rear drag brake set up, And MandH 27x10x15" Biased Ply Slick. Let start with the rear brake set up, I was fortunate to have Todd at TCE put together a custom rear drag brake set up for me that consisted of a 4 piston Wilwood rear caliper, A custom Rotor that retains the rear emergency brake, and new quick connect SS lines. The custom Bracket needed to run these was made by Todd for me and I must say he did a outstanding job, I also wanna thank "Junior" for letting us use his car for the fitment in Az prior to the final machine work by Todd. Everything was plug/play on the brakes, BUT!! and I say that boldly, there are quite a few mods necessary to the rear end to make the wheel fit once the brakes are small enough, There's the end links that need modifying, and the control arm/Bushing and the rear knuckle needs some enhancments.

Cam :worthy: handled all the modifications like a Champ! Ive never heard the man say No! Or it cant be done. Whether its fabricating, Installing, Modifying, etc! Not to mention he's great company! Thanks for all the help my friend, Hopefully I can return the favor's some day. Anything the HHPChallenger does is a direct reflection of his hard work and effort.
He just keeps moving forward, Ive seen more work come out of that shop over the past 3 weeks then when I was over at the shop in HB for 6 months or better.

Back to the matter at hand, SLICKS, So I went to Irwindale to test thses bad boys so I wasnt running them back East for the first time. This is were it gets hairy fellas, The slicks Im running are a Bias Ply, Im running tubes in them, 15lbs of air, There like balloons :shok:, I was told to be careful as there not like radials, and the rear end will feel like its moving slightly from left to right, Dont over steer or compensate just try and keep it smooth, :wallbash:, Easier said then done my friends and Ill tell you why in a few, So I take my first pass on these badboys and let me tell you that was a very scary pass!! I stalled to 2k and matted the pedal, Full Hook up! There I went, And then there goes the rear end!! :mouth: OMFG! just like they said, I completely let out of it, Then matted it again! Ran a 7.1 1/8th. And was tripping out on the new loose feel! Nothing like running on DR's fellas nothing at all! Now keep in mind Im running a Non-Bias Radial front runner, And there lies the problems fellas, Not good at all! NO NO NO! Dont do this! Ive been in constant contact with John at MandH, he told me the radial likes to cut down the track and will enhance that loose feeling 10 fold! Im now being shipped a Bias ply Front runner that will eliminate ALL the loose feel and put me back on track to be running solid and in full control, I only ran the 1/8th and got out of it every time at 100 mph's, Not sure how much worse it would have gotten had I ran the 1/4 mile and reached speeds of 130mph.
Once John told me why the loose feel was happening and how we could fix the issue I thought it be best to let you all no right away. I know alot of you are planning on running the Hoosier 28" slick and I felt it best to warn all of you of the dangers of not running a Bias ply front tire. In no way am I trying to knock PPP's Hoosier group buy, No way no how, Had I not run this set up Id of never known, I don't want to see folks hitting the wall at high speeds out of ignorance. Ive lost sleep wondering about that loose feeling at 130+ on my East Coast Atco day and now I feel 110% better after MandH told me the how/whys of this phenomena. So a word to the wise for all you planning on running true rear slicks, Be carefull, talk to the manufacturer and dont take chances, No time slip in the world is worth hitting the wall my friends.

    Heres the pics.

That is an absolutely spot on thread mate and a great example of why if doing this to this level (such as PPP's slicks etc) you CANNOT forget about the fronts as well.

Top post mate and great setup as well. Will you run those brakes full time or just on track days?

Unreal.... And how do they comapre to the Brembo's. Any difference or you can't tell.

Thats what I love about the Challengers, more of a drivers car than a 300C (although I am trying :)) and better suited for both straight line and road course.

Is yours and auto or manual, not sure I caught that in your build thread.

Whose MoneyPit and can I try catching him as well:D

One thing taught in a good drag racing school is never mix tire types and if you wish to run very low pressure in the rear for maximum traction then be prepared for an ill handling car on the top end. Safety first! Best to start with higher pressures and work your way down. Drag racing IS dangerous and the knowledge an expert can share in the classroom can help eliminate costly mistakes before they occur.

I'm running the bias-ply Street ETs for the first time this Saturday (Actually my first run with them broke my halfshafts and rear diff last week). I am not looking forward to what you are telling me as I've been warned by DVSSRT8 also, but 8YOURM5 has run over 120 MPH on them and said it's manageable.

When I picked up the bias-ply tires for the first time I was shocked how little they weigh. I also saw a bunch of warnings about running radials up front and biasply in the back. I have to drive from SVS to the strip on Saturday so will have a chance to feel the setup before going full throttle. Hope that helps. Anyways I'm a big pussy when it comes to wrecking my car so I'll let off before anything dumn happens.

Yeah, 17", you're right less sidewall to wobble about. Still nervous about running them. Once you get your skinnies you are really going to get some low 60's!
