ok so long story short had to have some body work done to the beast and they had to remove the headliner in order to fix the massive dent in the roof. either when they removed it or reinstalled it they managed to rip a quarter sized piece out of my steering wheel. it is in the carbon fiber looking stuff at 1:00 on my wheel. i was wondering if there is anyway to fix it or replace it or something. thanks guys.
I can't help with the question but... "long story short... massive dent in the roof... they had to remove the steering wheel"??? I just got to ask.
was in tenn for school and a tree fell on my roof and drivers side fender and dented the shit out of her. they had to remove the headliner to fix the dent but left the steering wheel alone. they just ripped it when they either took out the liner or when they reinstalled it.
Wow, sorry to hear that. The body shop isn't going to replace the wheel? or they're claiming they didn't do it? Guy must have had a screw driver in his pocket or something. Cleveland Pick-a-part seems to be the place to get used parts.
Can't see how the headliner would chip the wheel, but knowing half of the half arsed workers out there, they could have done something like Dave said. Have you spoken to them about it yet? I'm sure they are denying it...
wow...... funny to see this thread come up!!! i recently put a nick in my steering wheel in the "cf" looking section at 1:00. was tiny, but over the last two weeks, the surface covering just continues to peel off little by little...now it is the size of a quarter and looks like ass!!! anybody know where to get a nice steering wheel????
i thought about a cover but cringed at the idea...... might still end up doing it in the short term because it would look better than the big ass rip in the leather cover!!!
http://www.wheelskins.com/ ...excellent product, cept, you may have to remove the factory cover for us...see if they make a cover...either have it professionally installed, or read and understand the instructions COMPLETELY, and be ready to spend a few hours....tedious, time consuming...but, rewarding....I've used the Euro Perforated in two different applications...NICE!
well funny thing is that my dad runs the service dept there at the dealer so he has a guy that comes there about once a week to fix rubber and leather so i will be there this coming thursday to see if he can do something. of course the body shop denies it but i know the boss of the dealership so he is going to help me out. covers r ok but the ones i have seen look like ass. these r actually some of the nicer ones that i have seen. will keep them in mind if dealer cant help.
I had mine rewrapped by Dallas Steering wheel, it came out better than factory. They'll fatten it up for you and use whatever material or color you want.
i am assuming that you had to take off the wheel and ship to them??? or did they do it on some kind of exchange program so the car was not down???
