I know there's a thousand threads on bad dealers but anyone know the best way to get one busted? Like maybe reporting them to corporate or something, I don't know. And surprisingly no, I'm not talking bout a Chry/Dodge dealer, lol!

A buddy of mine bought a new car over the weekend and the first dealer we went to was by far the worst dealer I've ever seen in my entire life, they were unacceptably out of line (they ended up shouting obsenities at my friends 85 year old dad and threatening to "escort" us out of their dealership if we didn't leave!). I wish I'd had some kind of video camera on me to record what transpired cause it was really unbelievable. After we left there we went to another dealer and were treated fairly and with courtesy and my buddy bought the car. If it had still been light out at the time we would have driven back to the other dealer in his new car but it was too late.

Anyway, 2 days later I'm still pretty fumed bout what transpired and I just don't think it was right the way they treated us (should have known there might have been a reason there were NO other customers to be seen at this place) and I feel I need to do something. Any suggestions? (that won't require jail time, lol!)

First I need to ask "What" caused these people to treat you so badly? Doesn't seem right that sales people would just start screaming with profanity just because?

There should be a Customer Support line to the Manufacturers Customer Support. Also, I would most definitely complain to the BBB.

The BBB might not be able to anything other than to warn off others about their bad business practices.

Another avenue would be the Attorney General's office?

Every car manufacturer has regional sales offices and a regional rep. I'd start there.

    Now... why.

    1) That crew got notice that they're going to be let go next week.
    2) They all got notice that their commission is going to be cut in half and any incentives have been canceled. already earned or not.
    3) Every time the sales man said "it has this or does that" you told his old man "My car has THIS and does THAT and it only cost this much" and his old man told the salesman "His car has THIS and does THAT and it only cost him that much"... ending with the salesman saying "f you and f your friend that you brought with you" hahaha

IMO...the best revenge you could get, is to contact the dealer owner, explain what happened and show him the new car sale that that particular salesman cost him.

Thanks for the input guys, I appreciate it (cept for Tony ... I said something that WON'T require jail time buddy, hahahaha!). This has kinda taken a back burner on my plate right now and in all likelyhood will just go away, it still ticks me off but I got some other issues I'm dealing with right now.

And just for the record, we didn't do a single thing wrong or illegal. My friend made a legitimate offer and they came back with something really high so my buddy's dad was like, "F this, lets go to 'suchandsuch' dealer instead, let's get out of here!" to which they wen't off on us. My friend's dad then went off back and yea, it got ugly. BUT it was all purely a customer service thing, just about the way they treated us and I know that if the dealers car manufacturers knew about it they wouldn't be happy the dealer treated potential customers that way. Ah well.

take the car into the bad dealer and show the gm or owner what you bought and tell them why you did not buy it there. this is usually more than enough to end someone's car selling days!!

I don't think anyone in the car business is having a good yr. Denny Hecker closed 18 stores total. ( I think 18) Still no excuse,,,, but right about now. There might not be a boss you could complain to that will care.

That dealer may not be around in 09

Go to the car maker's web site and look for contact info. I know Chrysler will investigate any complaint on a 5 start dealer. I bet the others will too. My dealer said he had a customer complaint one time. He said the paper work drove him crazy for 2 months. They filled a whole file with written statements and documents. He said it caused him such a headace he would have about given the customer a car to go away.

The complaint was determined to be unfounded in the end. The customer had a history of making complaints against businesses hoping to get some compensation.

Co-worker's wife was looking for a car this month and was shocked by the practices of many dealers. Like she asked for a specific car in a specific color and was told it was on the lot but when she arrived it wasn't there. We just bought a basic Dodge Journey. It was on sale and had a good price so I didn't feel like pressing for a lower price. I want a decent deal but also want the dealer to make some money. Without that they won't stay in business and then I don't have a place to service my car. It is amazing though what kind of deals you can get right now. After we bought the Journey I saw that the local Ford dealer has some Edges on sale with 30% off.

Thanx for the input everyone, like I said this has kinda taken a back burner right now and I prolly won't persue it anymore. It was pretty much a customer relations thing that just really ticked me off, we were just treated very badly for no good reason.

Larry, thanks, that's kinda along the lines I was thinking of, contacting the manufacturer, in this economy I can't believe they wouldn't be really upset to learn someone selling THEIR cars is treating potential customers this way and costing them sales. Oh well.
