Excuse my ignorance, but do dealers usually charge you to have a TSB service? My '07 needs to have the TC "knock" reprogram done and I'm wondering if this is going to cost an arm & a leg? Thanks!

they should not ever charge you for a TSB or a Recall...if they try to take it to another dealer...

Thanks, Stevo! That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't quite sure.

That is not entirely true. Recalls (safety and emissions, not customer satisfaction campaigns) are covered for the life of the vehicle. Technical service bulletins are covered only under the provisions of the warranty. If the vehicle is under warranty for that specific item, then it is covered. If the vehicle is out of warranty, then it is not necessarily covered. On an '07 this should be a moot point (unless you drive a whole lot and have over 36k miles already). One tip, don't go in to the dealer and say "I saw this on the internet and need this TSB done". That tends to put them off for some reason.

You do not pay for a single thing at the dealer until after you are over 36,000 miles or 3 years. Of course you have to pay for oil changes, but that is basically the only scheduled maintenance you will have to ever pay for at a dealer while under warranty...

this is true...i was going on the assumption you have a new car w/ a TSB

if you know you need a TSB....go into the dealer with the TSB printed out....chances are they will give you the "no we dont have to do that" speech...when they do just pull it out and show them they have to....

when i went in for mine....i took it with me...it had the TSB and the suggested fix...they had it fixed within an hour

That's not true. Wear items, such as brakes, have their own warranty outside of the 3 yr/36k mile warranty. Brake pads and rotors are only covered for 1 yr/12k miles.

Haha, my service advisor always says "You have the number right? That will save me time looking for it, you guys always seem to hear about these things before we do". In a good way. Usually asks if I've heard about anything else he should know about.

So where can I tell the dealer I found out about the TSB? Is there a way to find out through Chrysler? Thanks.

if you can get the TSB # or even a print out (what TSB is it....i can probably find it for you)...you dont need to tell them where you got it...just tell them to fix it haha
