Since I own the company, I figure I am the best person to hopefully put an end to this discussion.
Well, since I've been censored for being "rude and vendor bashing" in PPP forum (although I never bashed, I might have been rude to the thin skinned). I did speak my mind and tell them that unless I see a cam grind they're not seeing my $$$. I need to post this over here.
Does anyone have a 6.1L Track or Race warrior cam card? Can you post or PM me the grind info (lift, duration, LSA) please?
Thank you.
You have openly asked for proprietary information from our customers. That is in my opinion a little distasteful to do in consideration of our Policy.
If You Do Not Get Cam Specs They How Are You Suppose To Know How That Cam Will Work With Your Other Mods. Are You Just Suppose To Take Someones Word That It Works. Because Not One Cam Will Work With All Mods.
That is true. One cam will not work with all mods. But in this case, we have spent the last two years at PPP defining repeatable, working combinations. Our word is one you can take right down to the track and prove it was a word confidently given.
As for using our products in combination with another vendors Heads, we do not make any guarantees, as we did not design the Heads. But we are comfortable with some of our cams even in combination with stock Heads, so if the other Vendors products are better than stock, we are comfortable making a recommendation for some of PPP's cams for use with another vendors Heads, but not all cams. We have forced induction cams and nitrous cams that are designed with Stock tolerances, and we have Naturally Aspirated, extreme cams for a fully custom designed configuration. So we are very open to speaking with our customers and making recommendations.
If you are interested in PPP products Mol, we would be glad to discuss your particular interests over the phone.
I never posted anything derogatory about your company. I questioned why you couldn't release your cam specs and when I found out you wouldn't release the cam grind, I said that's too bad because you lost both my cam and head business. How is any of that derogatory about PPP?
Thank you for your offer to custom grind me a cam, but I'm now working with another vendor who is more willing to work with guys who can build their own engines.
I guess you are looking to buy a cam, even though you already have an aftermarket cam, as per your thread you posted on November 7th. I will apologize, but we just got into it with another vendor about our cams and honestly its a touchy subject. If I have misinterpreted the situation, I apologize.
I know that many of you have seen this elsewhere, but its probably the only half-decent write up that I've ever done. So here it is to kick off the Connection.
A few weeks ago we installed my Tomahawk cam without removing the heads. I have to thank John (sdcarguy) and Ralph (MOL) for their expertise and them giving up an entire Saturday to help me do this. There were a few parts of the installation that I did not find good references for on the forums so I researched ahead of time with PMs...

So if you already own a aftermarket camshaft, could you please let us know why you are now looking at replacing it? You've had it in less than 2 months. Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to get more information.
Well guys the point of asking for the specs is to see if that cam will work 1)where you want it to and 2) with the other parts your planning. Andy and I have talked in PM and we understand whats going on. 1fastsedan wasnt trying to be rude or anything along those lines from the looks of it. He just wanted to know what the cam specs were to see if they would work with the heads he was considering and in the range he wanted it to.
Nothing against Andy in anyway but I am my engine builder and have been doing it for years. He doesnt design the cams his guy does. Dustin trust is earned never given freely. With that said I am not sure about you but I am not looking to get close Im looking to get spot on. And not knowing the cam specs is like not know what processor is coming with that new computer you just bought for X number of dollars. It might be perfect for the guy surfing the web but not for the guy doing video editing...
One final thing to have proprietary specs on a cam is kinda rare in a world where most cams for people are listed by there specs...look in a parts catalog. I respect that Andy has chosen to not reveal his specs due to an agreement he has made. I also dont understand it. For most people that just want to buy a package and have someone else install it sure they dont need to know specs they just need to be told it works. For some that want to know the why before they buy because they can do it themselves you have to respect that. You are right you can go to any cam manufacture and have a custom cam done up very easily but if Andy was to say to me "my cam is X" and thats near what im looking for or even excatly what im looking for why...
This entire topic came about because 1 member was asking a simple question that 99% of people building their engines would ask. Its not meant for the people that buy off the shelf packages its meant for gearheads that are doing the work themselves. I feel as a staff member your comments came across as biased to a vendor and probably should have been more thought out.
Except he has already done the cam mod to his engine, which you already knew, since you helped with the installation. It was hard for me to see an honest request being made here, but I've been informed that it may have been the case. He may have been ligitimately looking to replace that cam with a different one, and was looking for specific information, and I can understand the need to know information, but a phone call would have avoided this entire discussion.
Needless to say, currently the information being requested is considered proprietary. With all the hammering about our cam specs, we may consider releasing some information on the cams that do not require our Stage 2 or better Heads, so that those with Heads from another vendor can make educated decisions when evaluating whether a PPP cam will be right for them.
As for our products and the results they produce, they have proven themselves time and time again on the street and the track. We've worked hard for the ability to provide our customers consistent, powerful, record setting results; that they can be sure won't be copied, unless they are running against another PPP customer. Gives our customers the assurance that when they go to the track, they have an edge.
