I was looking through the company web sites of my list of candidate A/F gauges for about the 50th time and noticed that PLX Devices is about 10 miles away from me! Actually I had noticed that way back when I first started looking but I had forgotten that months ago. So I called them, asked them if they sell out of the office and if someone would be there to talk about them if I stopped by. Spent a while there chatting to the very nice sales lady and one of the engineers. Haha, I asked what's up with the Ford Muscle review? and they said the testing procedure was wrong and they were actually accurate to inside 1/10th. Asked about the calibration issue (or lack thereof) and the engineer said that if you don't use leaded gas and it doesn't get too hot the sensor should be fine for about 50K miles. Too hot was quoted as 850C like in their literature. I asked the engineer saying that my exhaust temp gets up to over 1750 for short periods but he said I should still be ok as long as it's placed at least 24 to 36" from the exhaust port. So I bought it. Came home with the SM-AFR. The DM-100s were all shipped so they'll have more tomorrow afternoon.

Anyway... The DM-100 comes with 4 preset gauge display styles and you can load 1 custom for a total of 5. I REALLY wanted the custom display to be the black faced DM-5 but they don't have that in the custom gauge library! She said she'd put in a request for their designers to whip one up and I'd probably have it by Friday... She calls back later and says the designers said it would take 1 to 2 months! (I got to get a job there) so they're not going to invest in that. I know RobAgd and Cam have this gauge so there must be a handful of others. We (I) need requests for the DM-5 gauge to be added to the custom library :eek:k:. They can match a regular needle gauge to the stock Magnum gauges but I want the digital display in the middle of that. dammit. For now I'll use that 3D ring gauge for the custom one. Really cool but I can imagine it would get old after a while. Why didn't I get the DM-5? Might get tired of it after a while. haha. and I think maybe it doesn't have peak hold and definitely can't display multiple sensor inputs. Now I have to find somewhere to weld the bung. Dealer won't do it. Service advisor said their exhaust guys don't do drilling and welding. Just bolts, hangers, and cutting torches. I suppose I'll have to risk a Midas shop and watch them do it...

Only thing left then will be those pics Ron promised of routing the cable from the sensor to inside the cabin. (yes, I've seen Rob's install on lx but thought there might be creative alternatives).
