Looking for some input from those who know.

Ok I have a '07 MSRT-8 and am considering having it painted "Plum Crazy". However I do not want it to look cheezy when I lift the hood or open anything up and see red. How much time and money am I looking at to have it done properly? Or am I best off to just leave it alone?
Who in the Mid Atlantic area could handle a job like this?

how much would you consider reasonable...

your probably looking at $10,000+ easy to get it to look like thats how it came from the factory cause you will end up removing a ton of stuff to paint the engine bay.

I'd say a normal paint job would run $7k ish?...

thats just from my personal experience when getting cars painted.

Remember you get what you pay for when it comes to a good paint job. To have it done right is a lot of work, which costs good money.
Although I never did like the color Plum Craxy, I actually own one now.

can you take a pic of the engine bay now so we can see how much of the red would show, might not bee to bad if you have red accent pieces to keep up with the theme

5k would get it done easy with no dents or scratches using the best paint. i just paid 6k to have my 73 challenger done and thats taking it down to the bare metal and epoxy primer and high quality paint and clear. bring it to alabama ive got a guy will do it for around 3 or 4 and it will be just as high quality. he does all my body work.

Shop around. As said before you usually get what you pay for, but if you know someone... get a hook-up! You can usually get the paint job you want for under ten grand, but just make sure you can trust the guys putting your items under the hood back in!

You might also be able to do the bulk of the tear down and assembly work for the shop and save some labor....

Thanks for the input guys. Some good points from all. I've talked to some of the body shops around here and am looking at about 5 - 7k. For that I think I am going to hold off on the "Show" and put my money into the "Go" first. I've just always had a thing for Plum Crazy, so this will probably get done just not any time soon.
