Brought over from the SoCal section of the other site to show a couple of you non locals... :ilovesrtc: It's cheap and a reason to play with my car :modding: Got the brick up on jacks Started scrubbin' Set them out to dry Decided to give the Brembos some lovin' while I waited First coat Forth coat All put away to let them dry/cure over night.
Just took some quick pics in my backyard bc I didn't want to get stuck out and about if the weather changed. It's hard to get distant shots b/c one of the carport pillars is right in the middle. But you get the idea. Will get some better pics once the sun comes back...
I commented over on lxforums... should of waited here it is again. Those look great on the car! Couple of mechanical things. Didn't look like you masked the lug holes. That's really going to mess with the lug torque. You should check your lugs frequently for a while. and I wonder what that did to your wheel balance.
Thanks for bring it over here! So what type of paint did you use? I was thinking of doing something like this.
Wow, you're really out of it . It's the Plasti-Dip craze. That coating you find on tool handles/grips. It goes on really easily, sticks to anything with no prep coatings/treatments, and when you're done with it you can peel it off with no after effects. Even paint apparently. Seems that the peeling off part can be more or less of a pain depending on how large the bits are when you pull on them. Kind of like peeling a label off something -- sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you do a lot of picking.
Damn, you are right. First time I ever heard of it. My be looking into it more now. How is it applied? :thongue2:
That's cool...how does it hold up to driving. I painted my stock rims, with that "special" wheel paint, that was supposed to hold up better than regular paint. They looked like :censored: within a month of driving around on the roads downtown. It's the reason I refuse to EVER paint rims again. This looks like it could be an interesting solution to my not black rims dilemma.
You wouldn't believe how durable this stuff is. And how easy it is to use. Always comes out perfect. Do it, and if you don't like it you can just peel it right off in 2 minutes.
It held up awesome. In December, a guy backed into my charger, messing up one wheel. Instead of recoating it, I decided I liked the black wheels and had them powder coated. I went with a SATIN BLACK finish. Looks flat at times until the light his them, then they pop a little. I love it... Man, that looks AWESOME!!! Well done sir! Sent from my SGH-T989
I thought of powdercoating then plastidipping them for protection. Plasti-Dip is on my buy list, just have to find it here. Haven't found a hardware store yet that has it. Looks really good both ways.
