Why exactly do you need to do this?

To keep the crank pulley from spinning on the crank.

    I know that.

Forgot - you're doing a blower, right? Need to pin it because of the blower drag?

It is hard to get more then 10-12 lb's of boost without a pinned crank.

I have seen the pulley destroy a crank on as little as 5 psi.

Total drag is the issue. An inneficient/tight supercharger will provide a lot of load on the pulley, even at low psi. An ultraefficient, free-wheeling supercharger puts less stress on until the psi goes up.

Have other people been pinning theirs? 1Bad4dr?

Erik, are planning on doing the face of the pulley or the barrel? I've seen it done both way, just curious.

Not sure yet.....I have a guide for both.....I guess I am just going to have to go out there Saturday and see which I feel more comfortable with.I am leaning towards going in through the face at the moment.

Well unfortunately with the crank in the car it can be done 1 of 3 ways.......
1)pull the motor ,disassemble and key the crank the proper way(not)
2)Using a guide drill a 3/16" OR 1/4" hole dead in between the balancer and crank, and slide a pin in the hole(poor mans keyway)
3)using a guide drill into the barrel of the crank from the side and install a pin that the keyway in the balancer will slide over(thats a bit scary for me).

So I used option #2 and it worked our very well.Made my own pin slot using the guide and old balancer and then installed the new damper with the pin in the keyway. That pulley ain't going no where!!
