Linda has been in surgery since 7:30AM PST. She's needed 4 pints of blood so far. I've been told it's worse than they thought. Surgery is 7 to 10 hours I'm told.

She's having the Whipple procedure. , No she's not getting a SC.

It's said to increase your time left from 3 to 6 months to and average of 17 months. This along with chemotherapy can give you up to 5 years more life. It's not a cure, there really isn't any cure for pancreatic cancer.

Total remission or cure virtually never happens. That would be a miracle.

I'd been wondering about her and your family Hal. Thanks for the update. My continued prayers and support that she gets the best possible outcome. We both know how pancreases can be a holy pain. Let me know if there's anything I can do.

Linda was out of surgery at 3:45PM PST. She had her pancreas, spleen, gall bladder, bile duct, some lymph nodes, and 1/3 of her stomach and small intestine removed.

Well the info keeps changing. The removal of the pancreas makes you a Type 1 Diabetic, so you'll need insulin and drugs for digestion. Some data says you can live a long semi normal life.

So we will still take it one day at a time and hope they have gotten all of the cancer.

Thanks for the support, it means a lot to me.

Ah, type I diabetes is WAY better than terminal cancer. I've had a mostly normal, if more expensive life the past 29 years. Still, that's some crazy heavy duty surgery. Prayers for her recovery.

Once again, she (and all of you) will be in my prayers this evening... my Dad passed from cancer, so I know what you are all dealing with, and it sucks. Be strong and be supportive, pray for the best and make the most of what you have. God bless.
