This morning on the way to work i jumped on it doing about 20 than heard loud bang.That's all she wrote for driver's side axle got it towed to Dealer.Talked to him axle on order only one's around are in Detroit so the wait is on.
That sucks. I spoke with another LXer today that had the same thing happen. Ugh! Welcome to the elite club.
Hmm, circumstances, you got a power-adder, stall or torque converter? Any reason for a stocker like mine to be worried? :fear:
Damn all these axles breaking makes me a little nervous. People breaking them on the track and the street.
dude you can get 600hp axles for under a grand now it might be a little smarter toinvest in them then going back to stock
If this failure is with a stock or mildly modded car, then I'm really surprised. I drive the living hell out of mine and I just lost the differential. I thought it was a half shaft but wasn't. Pinion walked up the ring gear and took roughly 1/2 of the teeth with it. Surprisingly the spider gear was fine, so this appears to be sudden and catastophic vs. a tooth breaking off and floating around the diff' causing damage.
I have a stall converter,CAI,predator,180 Tsat . But it does have a lot of passes at the Drag strip.The Dealer is taking care of it now and in the spring i will buy the 600hp axles.Oh and my best pass is 12.552@ 113.99 so it is making a little power.
So far no trouble with half shafts..............but wait...I dont have have half shafts....solid axle rear LSD....bahahahahah....rop:...........sorry to hear it broke but glad to hear your dealer is taken care of it..:mains:
Okay, considering I baby mine relatively, I'm not so worried, but good to keep track of these occurences and what/how it happened. Keep us posted when you know more. -T
