I think this paragrah from teh superchargers online article I posted says it all.

"This makes for great low-end and midrange power, and also makes them great for trucks and towing vehicles. The roots is also self lubricated, and is the simplest of the supercharger designs, meaning it is reasonably priced and very reliable. This is why roots superchargers have been the choice of GM, Ford, Mercedes, and Toyota for OE applications."

They also are simpler install wise...less piping etc.

    That is a GSM kit.

The Intake is a one off that was made nearly three years ago for the owner of the 300SRT8. I believe the cost for the intake was 8K.

    Huh...
Is this a diff GSM kit from what they make now? The connection from the blower to the intake looks diff.

Just my 2 cents about turbos. I ran decent sized ones on my audi s4 and they were made to make full boost by 2250-2400 rpm. It came on quick and made gobs of TQ for a 6. They also make tons of heat. The smaller the turbo the less lag and the less peak. The bigger the more lag and bigger peak. Finding the right size is key dependent on your application. Look at all these huge numbers coming from the supra crowd but they are freeway cars. Oh yeah have I mentioned heat...You think your underhood is hot now...I would love to see more on the rear mounted kits from sts. I know the guys with the chevys seem to love them. Keeps the heat out of the underhood area.

While it's no secret that I'm a supporter of and R&D vehicle for Vortech, all I can say John is you'll need to see what their blowers are capable of before making any decisions.

Would a rear mounted twin turbo help with both of the major negatives associated with turbos; lag and heat?

Heat yes lag only if designed and matched right. They will need to run the right size turbo but they have a lot more intake tubing to push air through before it actually gets into the motor.

Yes...the heat under our hoods I think negates the possibility of running turbos there, not to mention space issues.
The STS when it is done will eliminate the heat issues, and they have figured out the lag issues on all teh other cars they have developed systems for.

Thanks Kris! When the time gets a little closer I will give you a call if I decide on the blower route. I plan on getting a few other road racing goodies from y'all anyways!
