I just got this from Rachel, and it's legit. I'm not sure what's going on with the govt. here, but they're certainly on the fast track to stupid. http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=127_HB_568 They want to euthanize (kill) ALL Pit Bull dogs in the state. They also want to euthanize (kill) all "dangerous dogs". This means that if your Pug runs up to the fence barking at someone walking past, it can be deemed a "dangerous dog", seized from you, and then euthanized. I'm not sure they fully understand the mess that they'll make: The pile of dead dogs will be astounding, not to mention the smell (wafting East, I'm sure), and the immense health concerns. Also, isn't this a GIGANTIC violation of the U.S. Constitution's 4th Amendment? This could be the worst idea since that bar owner let Nick Nolte be a guest bartender.
I read the whole thing. I agree with it....except for the whole pit-bull thing. It states that a dog that attacks or perceives to attack while not on a leash or in a yard shall be deemed dangerous. I can kinda get that....kinda. But the whole pit bull stuff is absolute bullshit.
I hate it when people just automatically assume all pits are dangerous. It is all how they are raised and trained. That is crazy.

Very true. Many owners are NOT trained. :grin: I'm trying to figure out how you punish/kill something that someone else is responsible for. I also think this sets a dangerous precedent. What's next on the list: kill someone's child because they said a bad word to the teacher? I mean, they perceived the child as threatening.... How about something a little less dramatic: - My neighbor has a yard full of weeds and dandelions. - Since he won't care for his yard, mine is now riddled with weeds and dandelions. If I called the cops on him, would they euthanize my neighbor? Nice bill, Tyrone. You deserve a puppy.
That really pisses me off!!! Pit Bulls are some of the smartes, loyal dogs ever! You just have to raise them right, just like any other dog. I hate how they get a bad rep bc of dumbasses that do bad things with them. I have 2 pits and 2 yr old female and a 14 month old male, and my older female is the BEST dog I have ever owned and ive owned, German Shephards(2), a Rotweiller, and Chiwawa. If the government tried to take my dogs bc of the bad name of the breed, there would be problems, To me my dogs are family not a pet!

I Agree. I would end up beating the hell out of the owners bc of how they treat some of their animals. My dogs a sweethearts and would never hurt anyone unless Me or Steph were in physical danger and getting attacked, But i believe every dog will go out of their way to protect their owner.
I own a Pit and live in Ohio. They can pass any law they want. My dog is staying right here with his brothers and sister [2 boxers and rottweiler]
Legislating against breeds is crazy. Of course, I own 2 Dobermans (the pitbull of the 1980's)... so I know the feeling of walking them and people scattering like 'Death' is approaching, so I'm bias. On the other hand, I've seen Dobermans and pitbulls I wouldn't go near with a shotgun in hand... Large/powerful breeds in the wrong hands can be deadly... we just need to figure out a way that responsible people are the only ones to breed/own them! That'd solve the problem!
