I would put this in the Rants section but i need help.

so i will try and not curse and i'll keep this PG-13

first impression is who the hell would would created something so cluttered!!! to use certain function i have to dig for them and takes up more time that could be spent doing work.

the menu bar take up a 1/4th of my screen and thats more scrolling i have to do. i want my office 2003 back it more simple and faster to work in.

this is after playing with it while trying to work for the last 2hrs.
the thing im glad at is that Outlook stayed somewhat the same. some changes but mostly the same.

so heres the questions in Word.:stars:

is there a way to change to a classic view??

is there a way to get rid of the styles box??

is there a way to edit the menus to get everything to shrink?

I'll come up with some excel, PP, Publisher and access questions later.

Yea, use the "Tools" option in your tool bar.

You can also shrink or enlarge the tool box by placing your curser on the boarder lines...

Do you have Vista as the OS?

I've had it on 2 of my notebooks for a little over a year. I've just learned to deal with it. Excel is worse than Word.

haha, i guess it takes a computer nerd to love it...i do. i find its a lot easier and faster to use when i can have about an hour to fine tune my layout. you should do the same in the tools and options menus.

the only bitching i have is that the formatting is much diff from word 97-03....i need a converter to look at docs in docx format.

    Nevin,

Up in the left hand corner you will see the "Window" icon, then to the right of that are the save and go back icons. To the right of those is a drop down arrow. Click on the drop down arrow, then select the "More Commands" option.

From there you can customize your settings.

I did alot of that on Excel.

Some of what you are looking for are on the drop down from the Windows Icon. I use that quite a bit.

You can put your cusor anywhere on the top and use your scroll wheel on your mouse to see everything available instead of just hitting the tabs.

Correct. And yes, Excel AND Powerpoint are even worse.

Office 2007 was designed for those who are masters at the program and not for us dummies. lol

I hate it and to top it off I have Vista. lmao

Actually both of my year old laptops are Vista/2007.

My new Sony is the same. It's like anything else. Practice makes perfect.

I saw no reason for them to make so many operational changes with 2007. Make it better, yes, change for just change itself, NO.

My school just changed us all over from 2003 to 2007 Enterprise Edition...Now I've used the demo before about a year ago, and as i downloaded the demo because I wanted to try it out, and I'm very glad that I did, as when they did a full roll-out of it this semester I would be screwed if I hadn't used it before. There are definitely good things and bad things about it. I found it funny that they didn't change publisher at all. Now that I am getting used to it, its not so bad, but there are definitely ways of improving it.

Off-topic, but related, anybody know how to get that pdf add-on working in Word? I've tried a few times and it fails every time....

you have to install the add on.

    1) no you cannot go back, ms always wants you to learn to adapt and get better. they never go back or allow a kind of "legacy" support.

    2) no but you can delete all of them to open up space for another toolbar of your choosing.

    3) not sure what you mean here but if you dont like them there you can click the tab again and it will minimize.

I guess I was lucky in that I learned on Office 2007. I have 2003 on one computer and don't use it because it is confusing to me. I like 2007 so it's probably just what you are used to :D
