I have been running the canned tune from Vortech and have been fairly happy, bit lumpy when cold and I thought it felt a bit weak until I got into boost, and that made for a bit of a jerky ride. Now I got a new tune from Johan and what a difference!!! No lumpiness when cold, goes into boost much sooner and much more progressive. Only had it in for one tank of gas so I can´t say anything about milage but I´ve been running her quite hard and can´t say there is an increase at least... Feels like about 50 extra horses but that is not the thing, the thing is how it drives, after my initial runs I told Ulrica to go out and try it. So she did, came back 20 min later with a huge grin on her face and proclaimed that she thought the car was a hoot to drive once again, she didn´t like the vortech tune. Took my dad out who used to have a M5 from -00 and a MB SL 55 AMG, he was deeply impressed how the whole thing handled, from engine to stability on the road and brakes, he got the same stupid smile he had after his first outing with the M5 on a roadcourse... Anyone running a Vortech system and NOT getting a good tune is missing out bigtime, and Johan is the man!!! Thanks a lot, best mod apart getting the blower from the beginning, and cheap at that! yep........ johan is the only guy who tunes my ride!!! did he do it while he was back there in sweden with you fredrik! lol
A custom CMR tune is well worth it..... frorn the right person....even for a car with mild mods. It goes beyond just peak HP and TQ performance. It is perfrmance and "smoothness" at low to mid range that benefits the most. Johan is one of the best. ..
Unfortunately not, he is here on his first vacation for 12 years so I actually felt a bit embarresed to harass him anyway, I got the standard version with some tweaks I asked for. He is a good 5 hour drive from here but getting to Stockholm on friday, and so am I, we´ll see if we meet up. If I get the new Charger it will be fully done before I get her home to Sweden, thats for sure! Fredrik:smart:
And the speedlimiter is finally out the window, wen´t to a carmeet in Stockholm on friday night, met up with Sigge and his -06 MSRT, after a while we all went to watch some racing, on the way there I took out one of the racers, BIG TIME! So much fun! On the one hour drive home rather late I had the opportunity to stretch the legs a bit, still accelerating noticiable at 180 but I was catching traffic and I´m not passing anyone at that speed so I lifted off. I think it will do 185, maybe 190 but thats it, even so, its pretty quick and considering the Maggie is shaped like a brick... Fredrik:miner:
