Yesterday I made the long drive to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California (about 240 miles one way) for their Wednesday Night Drags, but it was well worth the trip! I had a rocky start during my first warm up run as my car stumbled about mid track, but I worked it out (ESP did not shut completely off). My second warm up run was awesome...11.63 @ 117 mph (which was a new PB at that time). And then it was time to start the ET racing. If you lost, you went home. I think there were approximately 70 to 80 cars in the Street Class. I managed to win through five rounds to make it into the final. I was told that the guy I was racing against cut great lights so I tried my best, but as we crossed the finish line I could see his win light come on. I drove back to the tower and was met by an official who had "good news and bad news." He said, "Congratulations, you won a trophy for runner up, and follow me into the tower." He then pointed to the screen on the computer which showed I ran an 11.48... He said that I would now need a roll bar and fire jacket. I have never been so excited to lose a race!!! I would like to thank several members on this forum (Ron, Dookie, Jeff and others) for their help in answering my questions. It is much appreciated!
Dude that is so awesome congrats on the time post up what mods you have and no kidding on him cutting good reaction times but yours is no sneeze either. Its funny the majority of the tracks I go to the winner of bracket racing is always some guy running high 15's or 16's because they have no spin off the line and are basically stock so there is no guessing if they will run out of their time dial in.
You are right! He was driving a newer model extended cab Ford truck that was stock. Also, I updated my mods in my signature...Thanks
Sssaaaaweeeeeeettt!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats on the runner up and the new PB...Awesome times. What was your 60' with the 11.63? What was your launch technique?
Wow! Great times man!! If you have to loose in a bracket race, thats the best way.... "Sorry sir, your car is too fast, and you need a roll cage" lol, you have to leave the track feeling good about that
My 60' was 1.76 on the 11.63 run. And, I was mashing the brake down harder like you suggested and getting the rpm's up close to 2600-2800 and then letting off the brake and rolling into the throttle. It seemed to work the best!
KICK ASS brotha. Glad you worked everything out. Umm, you should have already been required to wear a fire jacket. Since you have aftermarket F/I, a Fire Jacket is mandatory...
Yeah... the guy at the staging lanes informed me of that just before the final. It was a pretty lax tech, but it is on order now... Thanks again for the help!
NICE...If you ever get good track prep., you could repeat except stomp on it from a dig, stick and go...probably hit a 1.5...and drop your ET to about 11.3. Your MPH is right in line with your WHP. Good job bro! :friends:
Thanks! I am running a custom tune by Dito's Motors in South San Francisco. It is tuned for 100 octane...
