Builder Bill indicated that it compliments his stage 2 vb nicely, however the majority still do not think it will hold 3rd through the traps plus you lose the auto upshift if you use the manual mode AKA stick and have to be careful not to bump the rev limiter. You will also need someone with an LX to raise the shiftpoints while its installed on their car then you can use it, but will then need for your tuner to raise your rev limiter and also you will need to be sure to change the gearing ratio to 3.73 via predator. whew that was alot.
This DOES work in the Jeeps. I ordered one from Josh at HHP and he installed it in his LX first and with the handheld raised the shift points to 6400 for me. I have datalogged it and it is shifting at 6400 for 1-2, 2-3, and 3-4. If you can shift 600 rpms higher, you're still going to be shifting into the next gear at a higher RPM range han before. You're making more power up top than down below. Power may be dropping off up top, but it's still more power than down by your shift points. At least that's what my dyno graphs show. I'm making more power at 6400 than at 4200-4300 where it used to shift into. I have some datalogs of the new TCM installed if anyone wants to see it. Just send me a PM with your email addy.
Yeah I have one in now as well still sorting out the 1-2 shift its sporadic from 6000-6200 but digging it so far.
I have been looking over some old log tonight. On my current PB run, I am now shifting 3-8mph higher than previous throughout the run. 1-2 was 3 mph, 2-3 was 4 and 3-4 was 8mph higher. Seems like a good gain to me. Waiting to hit the track this Wednesday if the planets align correctly for me.
Since I had purchased this New TCM I have pulled it out once and have noticed that my 1 to 2nd will always short shifted at 5800 RPM, but as the time goes by it eventually will start to shift at 6400 RPM's on all the gears like Harrisons does. Its probably all part of the learning process I guess.
