So, earlier tonight I installed my new Needswings cold air intake. I f'in love it. The 6 sounds like a beast. You can hear the S/C loud and clear now! And at WOT...oh my god. I definitely recommend it, and any other Needswings product. Install was fast and easy and for such awesome gains! Rob, thanks for all the help, you made everything go so smoothly...so now you go make me more stuff! Before install: Install: Yes! Rid of those clunky space-wasting, air constricting stock boxes Go fast: I make it ma-self! Almost done! And 45 minutes later (those damn horn wire clips took about 20 minutes to wiggle off! :mad2 she's ready to rumble. And damn does she rumble! A lot of wind noise but here's part of the test run: Will make more videos hopefully tomorrow during the day, if tomorrow then I'll definitely get some fly by's because apparently from a short distance away it sounds even better :thumb2: If not tomorrow I'm sure I'll get some great footage on the way and at the HybridKid picnic in Boca Raton this Saturday. Also may get a dyno while I'm on the east coast. If not Saturday then next weekend I'll head over to Lujan's for one to compare to my stock dyno. PS: Toy, you seriously need to get in on this. The SL55 intake actually robs you of HP I found out, (not sure if you knew this already). Head over to Needswings and drop Rob a line!
I would love to see more pix of your six.....sicks.... That intake looks gorgeous man! Now go get a bottle of Meguiars Speed Detailer and clean up that engine bay like a good boy! :deshade: Then detail the rest of it in the morning and give us all some SRT6 eyecandy! :thumb2: Chase
Oh it's going in for a full detail tomorrow after I get out of work, gotta shine her up for the meet/picnic Saturday!! Gotta represent, :boxing: gonna be the only SRT-6 there!
Atta boy! Make us proud pimp! Please snap some pics of your girl for the forum! I've always wanted to see more of these 6's..... Chase
psssst hey Chase, sicks is a Lady. :tomato: Wow, ridding the engine bay of the stock boxes really opens it up. Looks great. I really need to email Needswings. lol
I dunno...in both his posts there were multiple male references. I thought it was really funny, because there's a picture of me there working on it. I was like "How the hell do you miss that??" Maybe he thought I was havin' ma bitch work on the car :rofl2:
Cool. Shielded somehow? You can drive in torrential downpours or beside a truck when it goes through a large puddle? Or do you have to be careful about that. haha, if you'd installed it in the daytime you would have had enough light for those pics k:
Sicks! your ride is badass! Nice to see you knee deep in your own mods! Props to you! BTW what kind of numbers does she put down? Have you ever tracked her?
too bad I didn't see you out last night when I was heading to town for dinner. We could have tested your cai out. I can't wait to see what kind of numbers you get over your baseline.
was that stock a dual tube intake?...looked iiiiiinteresting...The crossfires were a lot of fun to play with at the track experience :towel:
I discussed this with Rob, as I live in Southwest Florida and rain is a big issue, he did extensive testing about that and basically the only way you could flood 'er is if you took a high pressure line and sprayed water directly into the grill. Taken today at the HybridKid Picnic/Meet (look! clean engine bay!!): Stock + a cleaner magnaflow exhaust. It was a really hot dyno though, I'm told stock they can put down up to 310WHP I wasn't out last night, was shining her up and getting ready for the meet that I went to earlier today. Since I got the Dakota, I don't drive the 6 that much. I'll have to post up when I'm gonna be cruising around so you can know when to look for me :future: The stock intake is FTL. It's sooo restrictive. I'll post pics later of it off the car so you can see why
Here's the link for needswing's site that shows the filter layout with the front grill remove. http://www.needswings.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=571 I have the same concern about getting caught in some heavy rains. I was thinking that if a clear plastic cover was made to fit over the front of the filter side of the grill only, and if it could be attached by elastic straps, like a front bra, then if you were going to be driving in the rain, just attached the clear cover over the grill. The filter would still get plenty of air from the other open side, but the rain wouldn't be able to soak the filter. Does this suggestion make sense?
