I want to get a set of drag radials for this summer. Should I go for 18" wheels or 20" wheels. I will get 10" wide wheels in either.

If 20" is the way to go, what size tire should I get, 275/40/20 (28.82") or 305/35/20 (28.58")? - Both Nitto

If 18" is the way to go what size tire (plenty of choices)?

    285/35/18 (25.91") - Nitto
    305/45/18 (28.78") - Nitto
    305/35/18 (26.42") - Nitto
335/30/18 (26.06") - Nitto (10" wheel might not be wide enough)
    275/35/18 (?) - BFG
    295/35/18 (?) - BFG
    245/40/18 (25.8") - M/T
    265/40/18 (26.3") - M/T
    315/30/18 (25.5") - M/T
    305/45/18 (29.0") - M/T

If I go with a 18" wheel and a 26" +/- tire, what size tire will I have to put on the front?

    Any advice appreciated.

When did Hoosier announce an 18" drag radial? Wasn't aware of that. If that's correct, I'd use the Hoosiers ove the 20" Nittos.

You're right. All the ones I had shown as Hoosier are really Mickey Thompson (must have been too late when I did this).

If you have the preditor then you can change tire sizes so the shorter tire will not thro a code. I would go with the hooiser 245/40/18/25.8 tall in the rear and leave the stock tires on front as i dont think the 18 in wheels will fit. Your gear ratio will drop from 3.06 to just about 3.55 because your dropping the height of the tire 3.3 in which is great. Be carefull on the halfshaft breakage with any drag tire.

You'll usually get a better price with 18's on the 555R's and times should be slightly faster.

I'm using the NITTO 305/35R18 and I went from low 13s to high 12s. This tires are about 2" smaller so its like changing gears. check the vid...

If it's only for the track go with the Hoosier or M&H on a 17" rim.I am going to get a set of nittos in 20" for my summer street tires.

:worthy: Amen! This is exactly what I'm going to do with the availability of the Nitto 20" drags and all. Personally they can't get here fast enough.. lol.

Thanks - great video. If I go with a set of 18's, that will be the size (305/35/18). What is the width of your wheels? I am looking for an 18x10 but they are not that easy to find for a reasonable price.

Finding 18" wheels to clear the back calipers is not much of a problem. I am having no luck finding any 18x10 or 18x9.5 in 5x115 bolt pattern though.

You can always order 1k hp half shafts from PPP with a different bolt pattern. Just find street tires with both 115 and whatever bolt pattern you want to switch to and you are set.

The bolt pattern is not a big deal . My 18x9.5 5 x 41/2 have seen over 200 passes and has not had one problem. I don't think you can even see the difference with the human eye, well at least my eyes. And if your still looking for some I was thinking about selling mine , let me know if your interested cheap.

If 5x4.5 is OK to use, that opens up all kinds of possibilities. I knew the difference is extremely small and that he wheels would mount but I did not know if it would cause a vibration or the effect over time. If you have run that many passes without a problem, that probably answers my question. Thanks!

I know I'm digging up an old thread but are there any updates on an 18x9-10 that will fit the SRT8's w/o changing bolt patterns so I don't have to buy new rear wheels for DD.
    :)
