I might come out for a few days pre spring fest and stay closer to LA so me and Jesse can go out and see the area a bit.... looking for thoughts on hotels from people who know the area.... I prefer Marriott (i get my points) but depending on rate/location I dont NEED it to be. Heres an idea what I am looking for....***EDIT*** I just noticed where it was...Shoulda looked at the map haha...but at least you'll get the idea Also...what PART of LA should we stay...I would rather pay more and stay in LA than have to treck our asses up there...so areas are as good as hotel choices lol Fairfield Inn & Suites Temecula 27416 Jefferson Ave Temecula, CA 92589 US Check-in/check-out dates: Tuesday, March 16, 2010 - Thursday, March 18, 2010 Guest room, 1 King 115.50 (USD) per night AAA rate, AAA membership card required (I just take the AAA rate at hotels). Picture...
Here is more what I am lookin for in LA Courtyard Los Angeles Century City/Beverly Hills 10320 West Olympic Boulevard Los Angeles, CA 90064 USA Check-in/check-out dates: Tuesday, March 16, 2010 - Thursday, March 18, 2010 Number of rooms: 1 Guests per room: 2 Guest room, 1 King, Sofabed 180.00 (USD) per night
Steve, what sights are you & Jesse looking to say while in LA. There's nothing to see in Temcula (IMO) and you will be 1 1/2 hrs away from Irvine At the Courtyard your about 45 min away & alot more to see and do
you're probably better off staying at the Double Tree in Irvine. Fairly easy access to wherever you want to go within the LA Basin? Just a though.
45 min's from what? SpringFest? I am not too worried about that...we are gonna stay in LA for probably tuesday/wed night...then thursday head down to the double tree as far as what to see... im waiting to hear back from Jesse on that...lol no the Temecula is just a "i didnt look at the map" one haha...and really just an example haha http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbjKMobts5U
How much of a PITA is it getting to, around, and back from LA from Irvine. We are trying to decide if its worth getting a car...but if its like NYCish and you can park nowhere lol...its not
If you're going to do the whole LA/Hollywierd tourist trip, that Centurry City one is perfect. About the car, you can park EVERYWHERE in LA and the OC, the problem is the gridlocked freeways between where you start and where you're going to park.
better than NY where theres gridlock...AND you cant park lol and yes we will probably be mega tourists...but since jesse is going to her 2nd springfest...i will tag along for whatever she wants the days before haha
I also forgot to mention that you really do need to rent a car. Public transportation on the west coast is pretty much a joke as compared to east coast subway systems and the rare cab that you will find is $$$$. If you have a choice, I'd also suggest that you fly into John Wayne or Long Beach instead of LAX.
yea, but with two in the car, HOV isn't bad in most areas. lol And if Steve gets a GPS with the rental car, then surface routes can shave some time off of grid lock. Best thig to know is when rush hour starts and tapers off... Use these times to be a tourist and not a driver???
see now this is the stuff i need to know LOL i can get around NYC 24/7/365...but i am gonna be a fish outa water in LA LOL!
Steve, Just let me know what you figure out that you are going to see, I can let you know what times are best, plus like Ron said HOV lanes help. I been out here a long time & can pretty much tell you when & where the grid lock will be.
My guess is shes gonna wanna see hollywood and all that good stuff...ill probably just be checkin out what cars go by lol i honestly have no idea what there is to even do/see in LA haha
Steve, one day you can do Venice Beach in the morning, Beverly Hills (Rodeo/Melrose) in the afternoon & Hollywood in the evening. One day you drive up the coast to Santa Barbara for lunch (1 1/2 hrs. north), just some ideas.
Steve - Santa Monica near the pier is a pretty cool place to stay. You are pretty well located to be near most of the sights without having to venture on the freeways too much. Another consideration would be to stay somewhere like Laguna Beach for a more OC type vacation.
Thats kinda what i was thinking... however...in discussion with jesse last night...she had the appifiny that Disney is out there and now i think thats at least one stop....we still have another whole non disney day to fill though Laguna Beach is pretty close to Irvine right? I thought last year they were like "yeah basically just drive to the ocean and thats LB"... We basically have Tuesday form noon on to do stuff...all of wed, and all of thursday. its probably easiest if we stay at the double tree so on thursday we dont have to worry about checking out and checking in and moving bags and all that crap so ill see...that might be a good day for the beachy stuff...check in and go out and check that stuff out... wed go to Disney thursday do the whole LA thing... Friday is USW Tour, the parking lot madness, and just hang out day and of course saturday is SF and my birthday...so we shall see what i am gonna do to go celebrate that haha
Thursday night is Beach Burger too if you're interested. It's in Huntington Beach, so that would fit with your beach cruise day.
