Well we finally got my wife's Cheryl aka cherbear on here SRT-4 dynoed and we are quite happy with the results. We expected a little bit more but we will be back to this shop to get the cam's tuned as they are on a base tune and get the car dyno tuned as well. Car is on a quick street tune (Apexi Neo) I did months ago and this was our first time running race gas in the car and using HOM (High Octane Mode). Judging by the speedo on the last run, those looked like fourth gear pulls....You should do them in third.....Closest to a 1:1 ratio, without going over. Either way, I would love to have those numbers spewing from my neon...
Figs, I didnt see your mod list... I suggest a SAFC II.. I am assuming you have one though Great #'s... I use to own a 2004 -4 stage 3 as well with a few dcr mods.... safc really helped it out making over 450 tq just with the safc and a tune...
Thanks! All 3 were 4th gear pulls. I told the guy to do them in 4th as that's how my car was dynoed at another place in the past. Next time I will have them do 3rd gear pulls . chess, Thanks! Her car has a pretty long mod list but to keep it short its a DCR Stage 3, with ported parts, cams, and some other mods. Its got an Apexi AFC NEO on it with a quick street tune I did months back on 93 pump on DAB 3 off HOM. We were so excited of running it with race gas (110) for the first time I never got around to tune it for race gas and on HOM so we ended up running the 93 tune with no adjustments. We are wanting to get her cams dialed in as they are on a base tune and also get the car dynoed tune. Thanks buddy! Get that s3 in there soon, I would like to see what your car does. Her best run was 373whp / 423wtq on 110oct and on HOM. Today I'm going to try tuning the car on race gas and HOM as the numbers should be a bit higher but none-the-less we are happy. We have to get the cams tuned as well as they are on a -2/+3 base tune. Talking to a friend that has experience with Stage 3 he suggested a few things to do so it will be something I'll be working on today since I'm off from work today. The kicker is... DAB 3 is on 26psi right now... I will be trying to get it to 28psi.
What exactly was that. Please tell. lol Hmmm how many pounds was it on? So it has the DCR Stage 3 turbo with which options? Just the $350- Increased compressor inlet size, ported compressor discharge, port and reshape turbine housing to include DCR exclusive "ramp" mod? Cams, Cam gears, Intake, Intercooler, aftermarket WGA? Anything done to the exhaust mani? Great numbers by the way I watched the vid like 4 times already. Damn that speedometer gets buried.
Thanks! Well I originally tuned the car on DAB 3 (26psi) on Pump Gas. When we went to the dyno, we ran race gas (110oct leaded)... HOM (on 2 runs)... and DAB 3 on the street tune. Being that I didn't tune it for race gas the AFR's weren't where they should have been and the PCM was freaking out and kicking the car out of HOM around 4500 or so. So after speaking to a friend who is very familiar with S3's I sent him a log of my tuning points and he sent me back what to level them to and the car freaking rips on race gas on DAB 3 on HOM now but it was kicking me out of HOM due to the pump/race gas mixture. Will have to figure out the sweet spot. The dyno runs you just saw isn't the full potential of the setup. The cams need to be dynoed tune, they are currently on a base setting. The car was on a pump gas tune. Now the car is on a race gas tune, we need to get the cams dialed in, and get the car to stay in HOM and the numbers should be a lot better. Its a DCR stage 3 but I believe it was before the ramp mod. Its got a ton of mods. This car doesn't have balance shafts, the chain and whole assembly was removed. Its got the DCR oil pump and big filter kit, FIC 635cc injectors and so fourth. The cams are Crane 14's with Fidanza Cam Gears. Everything is ported.... head, throttlebody, intake mani, etc. Its got the Maxxfab 3" O2 housing, to a full MPX 3" exhaust catless. Those are some mods to name a few, there is a lot more. Spool is instant. We currently have more fuel then we need for her setup.
Wow! I bet its a blast to drive. What exactly is DAB? NEver heard of that term before. Is that one of the Stage 3 toy options?
thats not absolutely true. some cars like the added load given by the slightly taller 4th mostly big turbo cars but even some stockers will make better numbers in 4th gear. with a cutout and boost controller my car made better numbers in 3rd, after i went to a SAFC it made better numbers in 4th. on the 3147 my car makes a good 20hp more 300rpm sooner in 4th.
