My SRT-10 Ram Experience as DD Winter vehicle [Chicago]

Well, I took a chance. I ditched my 4X4 Dakota last year and got an SRT-10 RC as my daily driver.

I was a little nervous about this so needless to say I got 4 60lb bags of sand and a shovel in the bed.

I live in Chicago, and if anybody is familiar with the weather we've been getting it's the snowiest in some 20 years or so.

I gotta say it's the best RWD vehicle I've ever had in the snow!!!

Damn thing moves out no problem. Once in a while I'll sit and spin on ice but I've yet to use my shovel even once.

I've been on the road and parked outside every single snow fall we've gotten this year.

I don't regret the choice one bit!

If anyone is doing the same and complains then learn how to drive a RWD vehicle in the snow. You're probably one of those people who grew up driving FWD/AWD vehicles. My first car was a 1976 Bonneville Broham with 190 series bias plys and certainly no TC.

My other car is an '06 300C SRT-8 with an open diff and traction control. It sucks compared to my non-TC posi truck.

Ron, I've given up. We've gotten snow every other day on average for the past 2.5 months. Washing it would be futile. In fact, she hasn't been washed since I had her detailed and winter prepped back in October!!!! :cry:

Not quite as cold as Chi-town, but we've had a very wet winter here in Columbus.

The truck is my daily driver as well.
As evidenced....

There's a great automatic car wash place here called "Capt. Carwash". It's 100% touchless!!! It's fantastic for cleaning off road grime and salt. They even have an under-body spray!
It's a little tight to get the truck in (damn 305's...heh heh), but helps me keep it relatively clean during the winter months when hand-washing isn't really an option.

If you do a touchless car wash, remember to remove your antenna and pull your mirrors in!!!
