Well my fucking pistons showed up at the machine shop today. Just sayin.

(actually 10 days early. Thanks to Andy and Brian Nutter at Wiseco)

If anyone needs to go with a 4.085" bore piston, don't hesitate to call me as you will make many phone calls between Sealed Power and Wiseco to get things right. The 1.2mm/1.2mm top two rings are a problem in 4.085" bore sizes...i.e. Sealed Power doesn't make them.

Any suggestions or tips specific to the 6.1/7.0 that I may have forgotten that I can run by my very competant machinest when he puts the long block together?

I don't really understand the question, but why didn't they go with 1.5/1.5?
If your machinist is competent, really nothing to assembling the short block...Plastigauge, torque specs, and basic engine building know how, and you're good. A push rod motor is a push rod motor...nothing magical about the Hemi motors.

Jon, are you still running the oil squiters. If so, Make certain you have good clearance. Check clearance on the reluctor ring. Does he have a torque plate?. While you still have the heads off, please double check what we have already talked about. Check the base circle on the cam both intake and exhaust and write it down.

    Good luck bruther.

I did go with 1.5/1.5 as Sealed Power didn't make a 4.085" ring set at the 1.2/1.2.
I just had to give Wiseco the radial depths for each ring groove based on the rings I got from Sealed Power. I almost had a set of pistons made for which I would not have had any rings!

The machinest is putting the long block together, oil pan to coil packs. If there was something I need to make sure happens I wanted to let him know. I remember a thread about a crankshaft pilot bushing that I thought odd as we didn't have a pilot shaft but I can't remember what the deal was...things like that.

I am sure things will come together soon :)

Yup, that's for the torque converter to align to...
Make sure you get new head bolts, and to torque them sequentially according to SM.
Rockers too...If your guy needs the Miller tool #9070 for the intake rockers, i have one you can borrow.
Goes without saying, but i will anyway...make sure the chamfer on the timing gear is done RIGHT.
Don't forget the RTV on the rear seal bracket and front cover for windage tray gasket...4 spots
Make sure windage tray is clearanced
Get new M6 bolts for the oil pan...dunno why, but the manual says to.

I'll be thinking and post back if i think of anything else....

If it saves a little time,I found that a dental mirrior and a wire hanger will do the intake rockers just fine.Even if you use the Miller tool I would still go back with that mirrior and make sure everything is seated properly..
