We have decided to do a project vehicle at Mopar Supercenter's facility. We have received a 2008 Jeep Rubicon Wrangler as a trade in that only has 334 miles on it. Using this vehicle, we have decided to convert the power plant to a SRT-8 6.1L Hemi. Once the engine swap has been completed, we will be adding a lift kit, big tires and wheels, off-road bumpers, winch and more accessories. We will be maintaining an article on this conversion on our web site along with a photo gallery showing the progress. So if you are interested in watching this project take shape, please visit the following link. http://www.moparsupercenter.com/article-43.html Feel free to post comments or questions regarding this build.
That's awesome Ted! I'll be tuning in on the progress. I know there was a Jeep Wrangle conversion completed and up for sale on EBay some time ago.
OMG, that is gonna be one BADASS Rubicon.. WOW. I made this thread a Sticky for easy access. Please let us know when you have updates to your site.
Thanks, and you are right, it sure is going to be a badass rubicon. We have 37" Super Swamper M-16 tires and American Racing wheels all set for this beast. We have also ordered in a slew of nice off-road accessories to dress this Jeep out. Updates will be constant as we progress, now with the engine out we are just waiting on a few items to come in the next couple days. I will keep ya posted!
No, actually we are working with Burnsville on this project. They were the first to engineer this as a kit and others are following suit, like AEV. I have had lengthy conversations with Dan and he is supporting us on this build with his technical data and expertise. We are not treading in uncharted waters, just waters not charted in our area of the country. It will be a great promotional vehicle that we will take to several shows and events. The dealership owns the vehicle and we will use it for about a year, then we will sell it off.
Hey Jeff (blown7), I seem to remember something about a gamma ray project and that there might be a possibility for a 6 to 1 drive ratio, think it would work on this JK platform?
Just wanted to update this thread with a link to our photo album page. http://www.moparsupercenter.com/photoalbums/index.php We will be adding more albums in the near future.
Well yes once the standalone PCM is done, but I have another source in Minnesota who has a system to remove all the G force traction control, simular to the AEV "signal box" used to fool the JK so the 4 inch superlift kit can be used without brake intervention. PM me if your interested and I'll hook you up, Jeff
I think I would have a better chance at LIFE on a ZX1100 with a bottle of Jack Daniels than I would driving this thing when it's done.
The hemi conversion kit from Burnsville includes a radiator, engine harness, engine mount brackets, steering column bracket, and a reprogrammed PCM. There is also a list of factory parts that need to be purchased to complete the engine installation. We will add this information soon.
