Dave, Did your valve come w/ that blue ring? Mine came with nothing haha. I went to change my oil, not looking at what came with the valve, and opened it up and didnt see any sort of ring on it and didnt want to install it w/out one. Did you buy that at a HW store or something or did yours actually come w/ one?
