It started off with some nasty thunderstorms rollin' through on Friday evening....soaked even the most hardcore enthusiasts. A few made it out though: At the Quaker Steak & Lube a group of us dried off and got our grub on: (around the table, starting on the left side): Brian (owner of the uber GC-SRT8), Dyno Steve from Australia, 6.1Lvr(?), a forum member's name who I forgot but his 300C plate is "PUGZLY", Brian's dad, ANOTHER Brian (no relation; "MATFAB" on the forum here), Mike from Diablo/Predator. Good food and some good BS'ing. After din-din, I spotted "TurboBuckeye" out at his ride in the parking lot: (The red ride is his; the red cap belongs to the dude wearing it.) I tried to get some night shots with the cars, but the clouds from the rain really blacked out any light: A REALLY BAD thunderstorm rumbled through early on Saturday morning. We had a lightning strike in our yard at 6AM that scared last night's dinner out of me. As the rain worked it's way out of the area, the cars showed up at the track. Brian and his GC-SRT8 crew were under their tent staying dry as the track crew took the big hair dryers to the track: They had just finished installing the 3rd transmission in as many days in the Jeep, so this was a well-deserved break. Here's a shot of the GC-SRT8's engine bay: Holy HP, Batman! Some wet black supercharged Challenger pics: Badass ride. Another Challenger: I believe this was the one that ran the "Old vs. New" race (pics further down). Some Charger superchargers: TSTM FTW! This red ride was c...l...e...a...n: I finally found John ("MAGFX") and he introduced me to a Magnum owner from Canada (I totally spaced his name...sorry). Here are some shots of his nice ride: Great lookin' man-wagon. Again, very clean. That intake is very, VERY cool. Literally. John and I were walking over to the show car area when we spotted this guy in the air: We watched as during one pass, he and a small Cessna almost had a mid-air meeting. It was CLOSE, folks. Within 20' of each other. Right above us too! Rookies. SHOW CAR PICS! (I thought the swashbuckling sword was pretty cool) (Um-laude FTW!!!) Those wheels are pretty cool. They're *not* spinners. The spokes on the outside actually stay still as the car moves. It's very bizarre to see in action. Old-school search lights FTW! Nicely done, sir. (very nice guy owned that one) ("Bumbles" FTW! LOL) I didn't think i could go lower.... I was wrong. RACING PICS! I'll try to group launches and times together. "Nitro Meth...got your nitro methane here...who wants some nitro meth....come and get it!" Oddly enough, that vehicle sounded A LOT like my truck. Well....kinda. Okay...sort of. Alright...my truck isn't even frickin' close. The guys from Ontario definitely won the Smokiest Burnout Award: Hmmm...apparently Dodge has a new body style for the LX platform (far lane): Some aerodynamic work might help with that E/T. Imagine wiring up a Shop-Vac to run on 220V. That's what the Omni sounded like as it went down the track. The little box rips!!! OLD vs. NEW! In the far lane is one of the original Challengers. It's got 17K miles on it! They said it's been valued at about $300,000. It's a pretty nice ride for being almost 40. In the near lane is a 2008 Challenger. Orange. With drag radials. The old feller whooped up on him at the tree.... ...but the FNG got 'em at the end of 1320': The weather got so nasty, that I decided to take my sunburnt ass home at about 4PM. Had a great time and met a lot of cool people. Even my friend Pete brought his SRT-10 RC over for a few hours. Phew....thankfully I wasn't the only SRT-10 there! I felt all.....creepy.... Thanks to everyone. I had a FANTASTIC time. I'm sure the event will be bigger and better each year. I look forward to it!
You do realize you're killing me right? Seriously. This is painful. Damn you. Damn you all!!!!!!! LOL. Great pics. I'll get to a track again soon. Keep 'em coming!! What were some of the quickest qualifying times?
Thanks for sharing the pics, guys were are having a blast man.. JMatt you are truly missed man.. get well soon brotha
Sorry Matt. I did offer the ride.... Thanks. I'm not sure of the times. I didn't really keep track of that stuff. I'm sure they'll be posted on one of the forums soon. I did see that red GC-SRT8 run a 12.01. That's all I really remember.
Great Pictures Kevan!!! I have to say.... that is a very nice track!! To bad when we were there last summer the charger was having issues... :crying:
Yessir you did! Props for that. Just wouldn't have been the responsible thing for me to do. I know I would have done things I shouldn't have, and risked making current injuries worse. Another week was all I needed. :sorry:
Thanks folks. Matt- Save your strength (and N20) for Mopar Nats. THEN you can come over and school all the other sedans.
Great pics Kevan. Thanks for sharing. Love the art work especially, and the "Old vs New". All great rides!.
Yeah- Kevan already knows how it made me feel that he ran. This was promoted as an "LX, GC event ONLY!". At least that's what we all were told. I guess not. From the pictures, it looks like it was an "LX, GC event oh but my buddy is bringing his Ram and I'm letting him run." event. What BS. This pisses me off a lot. I do know the HEMI Ram guy from other forums, and he is making some good HP in the 5.7 truck, but still...why is he so good that he gets to run? WTF
its 04hemipwr aka 400rwhphemi in the gray ram, he was asked to be an exhibition vehicle (1 of 5 exhibition vehicles) for the event, and wasn't part of the paid winning bracket race. also he ran because he has a 392 stroker. i volunteered and could've ran my truck too. but i was doing other things this weekend.
